NOTE: Elizabeth Hinckley daughter of Thomas Hinckley & Ann Katherine Hinckley is not the same as Elizabeth Sturgis the wife of Edward Sturges, of Yarmouth Recent research (2020) has disproven this relationship.
Prior to recent analysis by Samuel Paine Sturgis III (see The NEHG Register, Winter, 2020, vol 174, pp36-39), the only candidate put forward for the wife of Edward Sturgis (1613-1695) has been Elizabeth Hinckley (1617-1691).

Based on the research of Robert Charles Anderson in his Great Migration series, Sturgis followed up and used documents to place Elizabeth Sturgis in Watertown, Mass. circa 1636-1639. Documentation and analysis further put the father of Elizabeth Sturgis in Watertown during the same period.
Elizabeth Hinckley's father died circa 1634 in England. In 1634 the fatherless E. Hinckley left England and accompanied her uncle, Samuel Hickley, to Massachusetts.
This creates an insurmountable conflict of information. The fatherless Elizabeth Hinckley cannot have a living father in Watertown Massachusetts in 1636-1639. It must be some other "Elizabeth" who is the Elizabeth Sturgis married to Edward Sturgis (1613-1695)
Sturgis examines candidate Elizabeths in the Watertown area and puts forth Elizabeth Munnings as the most probable candidate.
