I saw the inclusion of Rachel McAdams in this project and was a bit startled by it. Although she isn't married, she is in a committed relationship (with a child, no less!) and has been in previous long-term relationships. To me, she doesn't really fit the concept of an "old maid" at all -- or even a "single" person.

Is this perhaps a generational difference in terms? It's so normal in my age group and social circle for people to not marry but remain in committed, "marriage-like" relationships...

I guess I'm thinking we need to be really careful with including women who might have very different concepts of "single" and "old maid" than, say, women of 100, 50, or even 25 years ago. Does that make sense?

Would it perhaps make sense to exclude living women? Or maybe living women under a certain age?
