Skeeter Wesinger Writes:

I am contacting you about this profile: Nathaniel Baker

I'm wondering if Nathiel Baker was at some point married to Mary Pierce b. 1645?

Spousal Discrepancies

Who was his wife? Was there more than one?

Please see this discussion for analysis of the evidence for his wife/wives:

Current status:

  • no real evidence that he was ever married to a Desire Gray
  • strongest, although still circumstantial, evidence that he was married only once-- to Mary Pierce, dau of Abraham Pierce. Still needs more attention

Disconnecting Desire Southworth but I’d like feedback on connecting Mary Pierce.

Further notes in the profile for Unknown wife of Nathaniel Baker

According to Bertha W.Clark, author of Descendants of Francis Baker of yarmouth (data for the first six generations) pub. 1951: Nathaniel Baker's (b. Mar. 27, 1642, d. Dec 1691) wife is unknown. She was not as has been claimed, [[Desire Southworth Desire Southworth] Desire Gray] (Edward). Desire married Nathaniel Southworth in 1670 and was still his wife in 1688. Nor was she, as also claimed, Sarah Lane. Sarah married another Nathaniel Baker, born much earler and of Hingham. Nathaniel of Yarmouth and his widow both died in Dec. 1691.

Most likely Mary Pierce b. 1645 in Duxbury; d. 1691 in Yarmouth.
