Sharon Elizabeth Richards Thanks for bringing attention to this issue. Medlands says "It is assumed that this alleged family relationship with the Visigoths is another example of an invention by later genealogists wishing to fill the information gaps left by the primary sources." The curator's note for Pedro I, duque da Cantábria also says that his ancestry is uncertain. The Medieval chronicles do not mention Pedro's ancestry, with the claim only being made by an 18th-century genealogist. I think we should disconnect.

Does anyone have primary source-based evidence for the connection? If so please come forward, otherwise, I will disconnect.

Seems fair enough to disconnect Tamas.

Sharon, And I thought that I had my ancestry back a ways! (grin) Jack

:-)

Pedro I, duque da Cantábria is my 36th great grandfather.

Since nobody has volunteered with information, I have severed the connection between Pedro I, duque da Cantábria and Ervigio, King of the Visigoths

Ervigio, King of the Visigoths is my 29th great grandmother's husband's second cousin.

Pedro de Cantabria is my 26th great grandfather
