Why would this man, born to a father named Calvert and a mother, wether she be a Von der Schulenberg or not, why would this child be documented as having the name Swinket at birth? And why Swingate later?

As far as i can tell there are only a few options.

There is a place In the southeast of England just northeast of Dover called Swingate. But it seems this would be quite far from the homes of his family and the areas they frequented.

There is a place about 30 miles north-northwest of the Calvert ancestral home Kiplin Hall called Swinket Mease Sike.

The word Swink or Swinker or Swinkere was used in middle and old English, derived from Proto-Germanic, a word that always referenced work, toil or the product of hard labor.

Given that Benedict was a "natural" or illegitimate child it is hard to say for certain which of these is the source of his birthname.
