Robert I the Bruce, King of Scots is my 19 the ggf.

It's rare to have documented relatives beyond the 17th century,....unless you're someone like the Queen of England.

Robert I the Bruce, King of Scots is my 4th cousin 21 times removed.

I realize that documentation is scarce and I don't make claims lightly, but according to the lineage posted, this is my ancestry line.

David K., "It's rare to have documented relatives beyond the 17th century,....unless you're someone like the Queen of England." - Yes, but there are those (e.g., lesser nobility, etc.) who did have their lineage established for purposes of transmitting property, and England was very good about keeping records - DeBrett's Peerage comes to mind - so if you can document your way back to some seventh son of a Knight or better, odds are good that you have a well-documented tree for a couple of centuries in some places. Admittedly, your family tree will look like a tree that had a vine shoot off it and writhe off to take root in another tree... but aspens grow that way, too.

He is my 22nd ggf

I have gone back as far as BC, all documented Royal line on several branches. Verified and reverified many times over... why is it rare? You would be surprised how many people are related to Charlemagne,

My 20th Great Grandfather

Robert I the Bruce, King of Scots is my fourth cousin 22 times removed.

I find that the Geni family tree just adds people w/o documentation. I have been trying for years to get a line that was added to my tree with no documentation , and not with my approval, removed with no help from Geni. I have quit adding ANYTHING to my tree there. Prpm2@verizon.net

Tens of thousands (and so much more) share the same ancestors with you.

Geni is one of the highest quality pedigree platform where collaboration is made between different genealogists/people who has genealogy as hobby. If you have sources missing from your close relatives, you can add them yourself. There is no "Geni tree is adding stuff " - we all users are Geni and with many pairs of eyes it is easier to check and investigate, we have great curators that are constantly working with us. If you see something that you think may not be true, start a conversation about it.

This lineage tool is constantly changing. It is just a very nice tool. You can have several lines to one ancestor ( not only can, but you have - we all do when we go back several generations ) because when you have ancestor in for example in 1300's - he/she can be in other places at your family tree as well. We don't have to even go that far. I find it more interesting at this lineage tool to check how my ancestors are related to each other :)

Hyvää Pääsiäistä, Glad Påsk,

Saga

Saga Sanna,
This is not a question of how many ancestors one may have but, if it is indeed a viable Ancestor. I have been trying to get General StClair (1736-1818) removed from MY tree. General Arthur StClair had one son Named Daniel bn. 1764 d. 1833.MY Daniel StClair was bn Scotland 1759 d.1845 In Northumberland PA.I have documentation of MYDaniel StClair well known in Norethumberland History. The General's Daniel was in 2nd Regt. of Pennsylvania line .
MY Daniel was in Hartley's Aux. Regt. And was wounded at the Battle of Paoli. There is plenty of Documentation of General Arthur StClair and his decendents on line look it up. He only had one son Daniel. I have sent similar messages to other persons who work as administrator or such to no avail. I have tried to delete him in my tree, no luck.

Patrick Morrison that is actually good example how to make this platform always better. If there is no one "wake" at administrators, have you noted any curator? There seem to be only 4 administrators at the profile, so curator is the one you need in this as it is a MP profile. I noticed that you have started discussion 2 years ago, but no one has answered. Daniel St. Clair

Maj. Gen. Arthur Thomas St. Clair

Daniel St. Clair

Capt. Daniel St. Clair

Hmm two equally named sons? MP profile with no sources at all. I have had very good experiences working with curators in this kind of a cases. Erica Howton can you help Patrick with this to correct possible errors on the line. Thank you :)

I am sure this can be investigated and corrected. Kind regards,

Saga

Patrick Morrison - I’m so sorry, this must have been very frustrating for you. I’ve disconnected Daniel St. Clair from wrong parents and locked relationships.

If you run into Geni trouble in the future, we have a discussion many curators monitor, the response is fast:

“ATTENTION Curators, please assist”

Private User - thanks for tagging me. It seemed pretty clear, thanks to Patrick’s notes, what needed to be done. But always, double checks needed. :)

Robert I the Bruce, King of Scots is my 21st great uncle.

There's a million people on here who take this site as the gospel truth. In my line there is a Captain Whiteside from the Revolutionary war. I can verify to his son with hard records. 2 generations back from him someone placed a Mary Whiteside (Polk) into my tree. I've talked to the Whiteside website. They can't verify John Whiteside (husband to Mary Polk). I've found documentation in a book from Maryland that totally disagree's with information that was on this site and someone connected it to the tree. She was supposedly connected to King Robert the Bruce. You cannot trust everything you read here. I get solid evidence back to about 1700. From there back it's about church records and they're not always solid if there's not a well documented line of people.
People get excited when they read they're related to a King of old and don't dig for hard facts.

David Stephen Kennedy, Sr. - curators are ready, willing and able to help keep disconnected the legendary. Just post a link to the profile bedded disconnection at “ATTENTION Curators, please assist”
https://www.geni.com/discussions/245980

with an explanation within profile as to why, and ask that relationships be locked to “no parents known.”

Or post the link here.

Relationships are evolving. Robert I the Bruce is now my 20th great grandfather. I am noone special or entitled so some say I have no skin in the game (smile) but I am a long time Geni patron and I just want to thank everyone who work so diligently cleaning up thousands of trees. I realize that some relationships I may have had before may go away but on the brighter side... some new ones are restored and revealed. Bravo.

Thank you again for the hard work and collaboration of so many on such a massive One Tree project.
