Several sources indicate that Ms. Spector had Black and Native American ancestry on her mother's side and that her father was "Irish American" (i.e., white). But, I have not seen any documentation yet to confirm the Native American ancestry. Moreover, her father, Louis Albert Bennett, is listed in census records as Black. I am tracing back and documenting her family tree, but would welcome further input from anyone who would like to assist. I am very saddened by her recent passing and would like to help document her ancestry to the extent possible.
