Jesus’ Aunt Elizabeth mother of John the Baptist not connected ? Why?

No primary sources link the mother of Jesus to the mother of John the Baptist. Indeed, no primary sources even name the mothers. The gospels are written 70 yrs to a century after the events.
Primary evidence from Josephus confirms the existence of John the Baptist.
