Gateway Ancestors
As new information comes to light every day, The Order of the Crown of Charlemagne retains the right to accept or turn down a line based on the most current genealogical research. This is a work in progress and new lineages will be added on going:

Actually it’s a good working genealogist handling the lines now. It will be a good way to check Geni.
Looks like a great start, thank you!
There will always be those who will call Charlemagne "the Father of Europe" with a nudge and a wink, but if you think about all the millions of ancestors each of us has by the time we get more than 20 generations back, it would be odd if no one anywhere could document descent from an ancestor so prominent. The risk would be in evaluating the false claims that undoubtedly arose, but most of those would have been scrutinized at the time by friends and foes alike.
Some of these "black tie orders" do help preserve history, regardless of the opinion of folks who may sneer at America without having lived here.
Charlemagne is my 29th great grandfather.

This project is a list from a lineage society (The Order of the Crown of Charlemagne in the United States). So they’ve identified American immigrant ancestors.
It would be wonderful if there could be companion (linked) projects for other areas , and in their languages. Is there anything published by genealogists?

Siegfried I the Dane, count of Guînes
On GEN-MEDIEVAL-L, Stewart Baldwin (30 April 2003) wrote: “No reliable sources will be found confirming that Siegfried of Gunes was a grandson of "Harold V King of Denmark" (whoever that was), because the earliest source to give any significant information about Siegfried (The History of the counts of Gunes by Lambert of Ardres) was written more than two centuries later, and does not provide even a claimed parentage for him. That source stated that Siegfried came from the blood of count Walbert of Ponthieu, that he was "nepos et cognatus germanus" of the (unnamed) king of Denmark, and that Gunes belonged to him by hereditary right. These statements are introduced with events supposedly occurring in 928. Later, it states that the king of Denmark's brother, named Cnut, was "nepos et cognatus germanus" of Siegfried. These statements are only consistent with one another if "nepos et cognatus germanus" is interpreted as something vague like "relative" rather than something specific like "nephew". It has been plausibly suggested that this Cnut was based on an obscure king who minted coins at both York and Quentovic (the latter just a few miles from Gunes) about the year 900, but these early details provided by Lambert are legendary rather than historical. As tantalizing as these sources are, Siegfried's parentage is unknown.”
Disconnecting Siegfried I the Dane, count of Guînes as child of Duke N.N. N.N. & N.N. N.N. and disconnecting N.N. N.N. as daughter of Lothair II, king of Lotharingia
And checking again, because you don’t show an ancestor identified as a gateway on the USA descendants of Charlemagne project, I found an error in your Cunningham tree on Geni.
You descend (we think) via Jonet Giffard of Yester (your 20th great grandmother). But she was, of course, Scottish - and Geni had her attached to Giffords of Dorset.
Correcting her parents results that you show yet a different path to Charlemagne. I just can’t get rid of him for you! <Grin>

So can you spot the gateway ancestor at https://www.geni.com/projects/Gateway-Ancestors-from-Charlemagne-USA/4481376 ?
(Hint: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Townley-43)
We needn't get too excited over this project which is only a "partial" list of 'Gateway' ancestors strictly limited to people with Early American ancestry.
Every European country should (and probably do) have their own, completely separate list for anyone interested in their ancient genealogy. Let's locate and make projects out of them, too.
I was a little surprised (and delighted, for sure) to find at least one of my gateway ancestors on this partial list, and find it fairly helpful. However, the partiality of the list is a bit concerning. It would be great to know that genealogists are seriously working on expanding the list for the sake of completeness and accuracy, as I am reasonably certain there would be more among some of my lines (assuming they are properly proven, of course).
Although not a 'joiner' myself, projects like this are fun and can be educational, imho. I appreciate it very much. Would like to see similar ones for populations other than American, as I suspect they do exist.
( Sharon Doubell that anti-virus hopefully doesn't interfere too often with your online research, that would be terrible.)
Added references to the project.
I’ve been looking at Facebook / Meta page for them and they indeed add new lines.
)(Vigil) et al. I'm pleased to share the news that I've been in contact with Ian Fettes of Australia and he has kindly added your royal descent, starting with Capitán Francisco Montes Vigil, to Genealogics. org. The line can be followed back to Charlemagne. Once you get back to Alfonzo IX, King of León, there are a number of ancestral portraits: https://genealogics.org/pedigree.php?personID=I00760108&tree=LEO

The gateway ancestor that I descend from is Elizabeth Baldwin (Alsop) (6000000001108874216) my 10 great-grandmother though when I click on Charlemagne's profile it has me go through Henry "the Settler" Tomlinson (6000000009369463382) who you Erica Howton are a curator. Do you know if Henry is a proven line as well? Is this discussion group to add people to the order or just to verify descent from Charlemagne?
With all the wives he had, isn't Charlemagne a direct ancestor of nearly every person of European descent? He's my 35th great-grandfather, but it doesn't mean anything aside from cool trivia. Making an Order of Descendants, particularly in the US, with it's history of judgement by skin color just seems... tacky.
