In order for anyone to help you start with identifying where the problem starts.

Starting out with rough language doesn't help attract any helpers either.

Hello Johnathan,

Sorry for that and thank you for your message.

I have this name : Jean LeRoy linked to my family with no reason.

Jean LeRoy ou Roy
Born 20 Octobre 1674 in L'Ange-Gardien, Montmorency, Québec, Canada
Added Normand Joseph Rosaire Roy le 18 mars 2008

I cannot break the link (mariage) with my tree.

Do you know how to solve ?

Private User Geni is a communal family tree, in which we all work together to build a shared tree. As such, if trees contain duplicate profiles they will be connected together. On Geni it is more a mentality of our shared tree, rather than "my" personal tree. This is how Geni works, it is a communal family tree. If a connection has been made inaccurately, we can fix the incorrect information.

Here is some information on the Geni World Tree:

Private User Admins or curators can help you untangle almost any mess.
They need to find the merge or merges that occurred and reverse them. Can you copy n paste the link to the names that you mentioned?

12/21/2021 at 3:54 PM

A bad merge can occur due to incorrect details of someone else being given to a profile. This happens when one tree has the incorrect details assigned to a profile, whilst on another tree the correct details have been assigned, so for the two appear to be the same person, but they are not really.
Once the unmerge occurs it is vital to correct the profile that isn't right. That's not an easy task sometimes. The incorrect details might have populated many versions of that tree upon different genealogy websites and people might try to uncorrect the changes. Curation of a profile might need to be requested to lock the corrections in.

Thanks for the detail. I was able to find the profile that you are discussing;
Jean-Baptiste Roy

I'm not very familiar with this area. Is does look like a bit of a merge mess. I looked at the last 3 merges and could not tell if any of them were wrong.

Paul Louis Doré - can you identify for us the correct parents & wives?

This looks correct - can I use it for children?
