This came up during his trial. He was asked whether he was married to which John is reported to have said, “No
Sir, I am a bachelor and more than that I am a maid.”

So I don't think he was married to Jane, and I don't think he had any children.

Indeed. Only evidence of that is from unsourced web trees. Fixed.
