I've since discovered I'm not related to this John Rogers. It's possible he had an older brother by the same name that died before he was born hence he would be the 3rd.
They're not direct for me, just distant cousins who show up in a pathway I was tracing, so I hope someone in their direct line will invest the time to sort it all out.
