"According to VCH Lancs VIII:300 (numerous contemporary citations in footnotes), Baines IV:400 and MichaelAnne's Guido's recent article in Foundations Vol. I #6, Ada, daughter of Thomas Fitz Gospatric and his wife Grace ______, was married first to William le Fleming (1150-1203) of Furness, Lancashire and was the mother of his sons Michael III le Fleming (ancestor of the Haringtons of Farleton, Lancashire) and Daniel le Fleming, before her marriage to William le Boteler, There is no mention of a marriage to a Gamel de Bolton. The citation for Ada's possible subsequent marriage to William le Boteler can be found in VCH Lancs VIII:300 footnote #70 my notes say.

I have no other citations to offer for other parents or dates. I stumbled on this in my research for a book I'm writing where Baron William Pincerna le Boteler, 5th Earl of Warrington plays a role. It is likely Sir Almeric was the result of an affair, or mistress.

And do you have info for that? (I don’t trust medieval dating).

In 1216, William Pincerna paid a fine for the King's licence for having several years before for having taken Ada de Furneys (Workington) as a wife. She is said to have been the widow of Gamel de Bolton, and it was required that a Lady holding land under the king must have a licence from the king before she married. ...

VCH Lancs VIII:300 notes identifies the widow of William de Furness (le
Fleming) as Alice/Aline/Ada. This Same Ada has been sometimes identified as daughter of Thomas FitzGospatrick of Workington, Cumberland.

The widow of William de Furness is the one who is identified as having
married William le Boteler following her first husband's death near 1203. If
it is the same woman, she was mother of Michael and Daniel le Fleming and also Almeric and Emma (or Editha) le Boteler. (Lanc. Inq. and Extents,
I:118)

Has anyone confirmed this from other sources?
