Thomas Roche and Bridget Devine son Peter Roche
This is great! Yay sources!!!!!
I think that this family tree you linked: https://www.myheritage.com/research/record-40001-97316130/thomas-ro... is potentially confusing two different Thomas and Bridget Roche's who lived in NY state. The Thomas and Bridget who had a son, Martin, lived in Whitestown, Oneida, NY. They are present on the 1860 census there, while the other Thomas and Bridget Roche lived in Lodi, NY in 1860.
Peter Roche, son of Thomas Roche and Bridget Devine was born in 1887 in Canada, so this is not the Thomas and Bridget we are looking for either: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F2KV-G7C
Regarding Catherine Roche born 1849 married to a Pat Rynne ---https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FGZV-DBZ, this 1868 Irish marriage record only says that she is the daughter of a Thomas Roche. Names like Catherine, Thomas, Bridget are very common among the Irish, so there is nothing here to imply that this document refers to the individuals we are interested in. These very popular names (John, Patrick, Thomas, Mary, Catherine, etc.) are one of the great difficulties with doing Irish genealogy, as lots of people had the same names.
I would also be interested in where the Fox maiden name come from for Bridget Roche. I removed the name from her Geni profile for the time being, but mentioned in her about section: "Maiden name seen as Fox in online family trees. Currently unclear what the source is for this name."
On Find a grave https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/214541644/thomas-roche Thomas Roche from Londi is listed as being married to Bridget with 2 children Peter and Maria https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/214541602/maria-r.-roche no mention of a daughter catherine
Biden is in fact elected to be the new president, he won, Trump lost. It's not up to Trump to select the new president, or don't you believe in your own democracy?
President-elect of the United States. Assuming office January 20, 2021
"Having defeated incumbent Donald Trump in the 2020 United States presidential election, he will be inaugurated as the 46th president on January 20, 2021."

Private User please see the discussion at https://www.geni.com/discussions/221187 where Private User wrote on November 6, "If/when Vice President Biden is confirmed by the Electoral College, we can update his display name to "Joe Biden, President-Elect of the United States," and if/when he's sworn in, we can update to "Joe Biden, 46th President of the United States." But unless/until, we'll be leaving both his and President Trump's names alone. As always, let's please work together to keep political discussion out of our threads. Thanks."
Ulf, there's a bit of nuance here -- he is functionally the president-elect, of course, but it's not an official *title* until the Electoral College votes. Since this is a genealogy site, titles have a very particular meaning that we need to respect.
What I can (and should!) do is update the curator note and also his bio to reflect his new role. But the title field will stay as-is until December.
In the meantime, let's stick to the topic of this thread: Biden's ancestry and ethnic heritage.
Thx Ashley you are letting us focus on ancestry and Geneology .
India very likely to find people with Irish , Scottish ,Welsh and English ancestry as it was part of the British Empire .
Anglo-Indians very proud of their ancestors.
Also French ancestry in former French occuoied parts of India.
I have Indian ancestry via slaves send to the Cape of Good Hope but alas NO Irish ancestry
Why do more people not do DNA to confirm and direct ancestry ?
My atDNA has given me proof of my 8 grt grandparents .
My yDNA points me towards Germany/Norway or Ukraine . At least in a direction and possible area. So I know not likeky to be Irish for instance.
More reliable than claims in a Book , TV shows ,The Press or even genealogical records
Kamala Harris, 49th Vice President of the USA possibly has an Ireland connection through Ulster Scots ancestors -- though that line, which we show on Geni, is disputed and needs more citations: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/kamala-harris-ancestor-slaves/
I can't find race noted on the records for her Finegan/Fenegon ancestors, so they may have been Irish (or Scottish) *or* they may have been assigned the surname of an enslaver. Jamaica has more Scottish heritage than Irish, but both are definitely found on the island.
In any case, it's a good question to ask in a separate thread focused on her ancestry. Feel free to start one.
