No evidence uncovered in the record to date indicates Maria Kickers was an orphan. She was not a member of the group of orphans who arrived from Rotterdam in 1688. All we know for sure is that she was from Amsterdam and that she was of marriageable age in 1683 when she married Jan Cornelisz:

Ahh, the elusive Maria Kickers/Kikkert/Kick, one of my 7th or 8th great grandmothers depending on which family timeline I can trace back to her (12 times on my paternal side and 1 on my maternal side ..... and still exploring). Deon Botha has put a lot of effort into trying to identify her parentage and I welcome this discussion and shall follow it with great interest.

Do update the About - and remove any references to her being an orphan.
