Nicholas Gentry (Nicholas , Samuel ) was born on 30 May 1697 in New Kent, Va and was christened on 30 May 1699 in St Peter Parish. He died on 20 Feb 1779 in Albermarle, Va.
The original Gentry home was in the west end of New Kent on Totopotomy Creek. In 1720 New Kent County was divided in half and made Hanover and Louisa counties.
Nicholas was 81 years old when he died.
Pursuant to an order of the vestry of Fredricksville Parish, we have processioned the lines between Charles Barrett and Thomas Rice; the lines between Charles Barrett and Nicholas Gentry. Present each party: Samuel Gentry, James Nuckols and Richard Haggard
The deed was signed by Richard R. Brooks and Witnessed by John Venable and John Clark.
Pursuant to an order of the vestry of Fredericksville Parish, appointing us to procession the ines of the several persons between Harris' Mill Road and Henson's Creek Road, the parish line and the head of the Little Creek River.

Nicholas married (1) Mary Brooks about 1716 in New Kent, Va. Mary was born in 1699 in Hanover/New Kent, Va. She died about 1729 in Hanover, Va.
Nicholas and Mary had the following children:
1. Samuel Gentry was born in 1716 and died in 1800.
2. James married unknown.
3. Moses Gentry was born in 1722 and died in 1808.
4. John P. Gentry was born in 1723.
5. David Gentry was born on 1 Oct 1724 and died in 1812.
6. Ann Gentry was born in 1725 in Albemarle, Va. She died in 18[7]45. Ann married unknown Jenkins. [The original date must of off because she must not have lived to 120 years old.]
7. Nicholas Gentry was born in 1726 and died on 13 Dec 1787.
8. Mary Gentry was born in 1728 in Albermarle, Va. She died in 1822. Mary married Richard Hinson in 1748 in Hanover, Va.
Nicholas also married (2) Jane Benajah/Brown in 1729 in Albermarle, Va. Jane was born in 1705 in Albermarle, Va. She died in 1779 in Albermarle, Va.
They had the following children:
9. Robert Gentry was born in 1730 and died on 29 Jun 1814.
10. Elizabeth Betsey Gentry was born on 14 Oct 1731 and died on 28 Jul 1820.
11. Benajah Brown Gentry was born in 1733 and died on 3 Jan 1831.
12. Jane Gentry was born in 1739 in Albemarle, Va. She died in 1843. Jane married unknown Timberlake.
13. Nathan Gentry was born in 1741 and died in 1784.
14. Samuel Gentry was born in 1742 in Louisa, Va. He died in 1800 in Surry, NC.
15. Martin Gentry was born on 11 Sep 1747 and died on 22 Apr 1827.
16. Allen Gentry died in 1825.
