I’d love to see genealogies for the scientists etc who are working so hard on this global crisis.

Please help.

Erica,
I'm not sure what to call this project... nor what to enter in google to find these heroes. Most of the sites I have looked at don't list specific people, Many sites have quotes by people from different places that are working on vaccines or cures, so don't know if they are to be included.

Also, since they are living, will they be visible in Geni???

We’d make MPs. How about “heroes of the Pandemic” as a title?

I’m going to ask my brother, who has an interest in infectious diseases, for a list, but already coming to mind are categories:

- Community response, such as the people of Italy making music together from their balconies (tearing up). How did this brilliance happen?

- Smart government. Including Gov’s Inslee, Cuomo, Newsome, the Pres of Ireland ...

- Public health officials, such as Falci.

- Innovative reporting. There’s a gal called Caroline (Chen, I think) who’s doing great work.

- “the race for the cure” (the vaccine chasers)

....

Erica, is this what you are looking for??? It will be a work in progress once it becomes a project & hopefully others will add to it. If this is what you want, I will go ahead and make it a project. Please add anything you feel it needs, esp. the "Intro". Please make any modifications you feel are necessary.

Heroes of the COVID-19 Pandemic

==Please add people, events, actions, etc. to this evolving project==

Health care experts and scientists, governments are working around the clock to try to deal with this pandemic. Many are working on vaccines, cures. Please add those who would be appropriate for these areas. For those living, their profiles can be made MP.

If any other titles appropriate for this heading, please feel free to add it to this project. Heroes come in many ways and forms. As this disease progresses more ideas for categories may come to mind.

Excellent, let’s do it.

I don't know where to put the projects for: Heroes of the COVID-19 Pandemic
https://www.geni.com/projects/Heroes-of-the-COVID-19-Pandemic/1311369

And I don't know which discussion to put it in so others will be aware of it.

Need a photo for it also...

Sorry to be so needy with this project. I am sure you are very busy with other Geni issues.

Infectious Diseases. Medical portal. I’m sure others will come up to relate the project to. I’ll look for images also.

Thank you Erica and Pat. Always hard at work. Will join for sure. Getting bad here in South Africa now as well.

J

Pat I will try and get something on South Africa. The President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced SA's Covid as a pandeminc last night to the nation. School will be closing on Wednesday instead of Friday and will only reopen the 14 week in April instead of the 31st Of March. All major sport events i.e. The Two Oceans Marathon (World wide participants), Cape Cycling race and all events and gathering exceeding 100 people.
All but 2 of our Universities is still open today. Classes will be offered via internet until further notice.

Horrible situation.

Judi

Erica Howton, Private,
Thanks for all of your help. This was a challenging project to create for me, so any help is appreciated!!!

Erica, I like the photo you found.

Can we find the articles on the Italian impromptu community “concerts?”

Patricia Ann Scoggin I am including a few links to articles relating SA. This morning all schools closed for a month and also all the Universities. Students have until 10 am on Thursday morning to evacuate their room.
This morning also an announcement that all no events of more than 50 people allowed.

And then there is this one on World Wide.

Will see what I can find further. Also keep you posted on people who die.

Judi

A state of emergency was just declared in Ontario, Canada. This allows the government to put together emergency funding without passing a budget bill.

** Israeli scientists are on the cusp of developing the first vaccine against the novel coronavirus, according to Science and Technology Minister Ofir Akunis. If all goes as planned, the vaccine could be ready within a few weeks and available in 90 days, according to a release.
** “Congratulations to MIGAL [The Galilee Research Institute] on this exciting breakthrough,” Akunis said. “I am confident there will be further rapid progress, enabling us to provide a needed response to the grave global COVID-19 threat,” Akunis said, referring to the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
** Once the vaccine is developed, it will take at least 90 days to complete the regulatory process and potentially more to enter the marketplace.

I have added the above to the Heroes project. I hope you will read the whole article as it is very interesting. I wonder how long it will take to be available world wide???
