Private User says:

Incorrect parents. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Cook

Furthermore the dates are way out.

cf "James Cook was born on 7 November 1728 (NS) in the village of Marton in Yorkshire and baptised on 14 November (N.S.) in the parish church of St Cuthbert, where his name can be seen in the church register.[1][2] He was the second of eight children of James Cook (1693–1779), a Scottish farm labourer from Ednam in Roxburghshire, and his locally born wife, Grace Pace (1702–1765), from Thornaby-on-Tees" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Cook

Looks like the Geni tree has the wrong James and Grace Cook. He seems to have acquired a way too noble ancestry as his father was a farm labourer and his mother's maiden name was Pace. Wikipedia looks correct.

Thanks Tony - I'll change.

Unmerged (Private User)and correct parents reapper: James Cook and Grace Cook

I'm going to set and lock his profile relationships as follows:

Cook married Elizabeth Batts, the daughter of Samuel Batts, keeper of the Bell Inn in Wapping[10] and one of his mentors, on 21 December 1762 at St Margaret's Church, Barking, Essex.[11]

The couple had six children:
1 James (1763–1794),
2 Nathaniel (1764–1780, lost aboard HMS Thunderer which foundered with all hands in a hurricane in the West Indies),
3 Elizabeth (1767–1771),
4 Joseph (1768–1768),
5 George (1772–1772) and
6 Hugh (1776–1793, who died of scarlet fever while a student at Christ's College, Cambridge).
When not at sea, Cook lived in the East End of London. He attended St Paul's Church, Shadwell, where his son James was baptised.

Cook has no direct descendants—all of his children died before having children of their own.[12]

Private User - I have removed the link to the incorrect parents and re-merged the profile. My apologies!

Elizabeth Cook has parents that don't agree with other notes

Too many Cooks!!!

Removing Grace Janet Cooke as any relative of Capt Cook (now his grandmother) pending sources to prove that this farming family was aristocratic.

John Hamilton Cook as his uncle / brother? becomes very questionable too.

Thanks for the headsup on Elizabeth Batts, June. I'll go and reasearch that.

Regarding Elizabeth Batts: "In 1762, James Cook married Elizabeth Batts at Barking, just to the east of London. Traditionally, information about Elizabeth's origins has been limited and sketchy. She was known to be the daughter of Mary and Samuel (many works continue to call him John or even James) Batts who ran the Bell Alehouse at Execution Dock in Wapping. Mary, herself, was the daughter of Charles Smith, a Bermondsey currier. Samuel Batts died in 1742 and three years later Mary married a man called John Blackburn. Apart from these facts, little else was known."

Changing the name on the profile for her father from James Batts to Samuel Batts
cf (No Name)

Private User says I am puzzled by the number of Elizabeth Batts Cook's children. Most sources say she had six children. Could you please clarify.
Elizabeth Cook

Disconnecting John Cook & Daniel Cook pending evidence.

Also James Cook with relationships that conflict with the original profile for him.
