Anne Surette, the daughter of Pierre Surette and Catherine Breau, was born about 1733, probably in Missaguash Creek, near Amherst, NS. Her parents were married at St-Charles-aux-Mines parish in 1732. Following their marriage they moved to Missaguash Creek with Joseph, Paul and Honore Surette. In 1752, Pierre and Catherine were living with their family in Petitcodiac, New Brunswick.

Note: Anne Suret had a nephew, Joseph Frederic, born in 1766 and who married Sophique Babin. Surette's Island was named after Joseph Frederic. Her other nephew, Augustin Suret, son of Pierre Suret III and Marie Duon of Abel of St. Anne du Ruisseau, married Francoise Potier. This couple are the origin of the Surets in West Pubnico.
