to answer your query about Mary Ann

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/178799744/mary-ann-plumb

cemetery details:
Mary Ann Plumb (1852-1950)
Age 99, wife of Stephen Plumb
Parents: Thomas Farlow / Reynolds & Sarah Anna Gray

The evidence seems to suggest Marry Ann Reynolds (29.4.1851or2-20.9.1950)[who in 1872 wed Stephen Plumb (9.9.1841-6.5.1905)] was the daughter, not sister, of Thomas Farlow (who adopted his step-father's name of Reynolds) the son of Ann Sibrey (30.3.1813Wilberforce-10.4.1867Albury) & William Farlow (1809-64).
They seem to have had a defacto relationship in~1827, before Ann wed William Henry Clemson in 1831 & William Stirling Reynolds in 1833.
It is likely the three Thomas's are this same Thomas (1827-1859), who wed in 1848 Sarah Ann Gray (~1829-31.1.1876). It also seems their kids were all born before 1859 [Mary Ann 1851/2-1950), Thomas (1857-1934), Jane (1855-) & possibly Emily (1859(in Maitland)-)].
His berth date could be 26.10.1827 or 20.2.1827?

NSW Marriage Record 101/1855 Thomas REYNOLDS married Ann DONNELL

This Thomas Reynolds seems to be different to the Thomas (1827-1859).
Thomas and Ann (Donnell) had at least 10 children between 1855 and 1870, registered at Orange. I don't have documented birth or death dates for either this Thomas Reynolds or Ann Donnell.

Carrying on from here we have another issue

Sarah Ann Reynolds has 2 husbands

1) Thomas Reynolds 1827-1894 - son of Edward Hipwell REYNOLDS and Sarah Maria SINGLETON

2) Thomas Reynolds 1827-1859 - son of William FARLOW and Ann SIBREY (adopted by William Sterling REYNOLDS)

Not sure if this helps but this document connects Thomas Reynolds who died at Yass/Gunning in 1859 to the Sibrey family.

New South Wales Gazette, 22 April 1859

In the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
ECCLESIASTICAL JURISDICTION.
In the Goods of Thomas Reynolds, late of Catherine Creek, in the County of King, in the
Colony of New South Wales, farmer, de-
ceased, intestate.
NOTICE is hereby given, that after the ex-
piration of fourteen days from the publication of this notice, an application will be made
to this Honorable Court, in its Ecclesiastical
Jurisdiction, that Letters of Administration of
all and singular the goods, chattels, and credits
of the above-named Thomas Reynolds, be granted
to his uncle, Joseph Sibraa, of Catherine's Creek
aforesaid, in the County and Colony aforesaid.—
Dated at Yass, this 18th day of April, a.d. 1859
GEO. C. ALLMAN,
Proctor for Joseph Sibraa.
By his Agents, Dunsmure and Stafford.

Sarah died in 1860 so was still alive in 1859 so it would be reasonable to assume that the Thomas who died 1859 was not her husband.

I deleted my last posts because they were incorrect and confused the issue.

I've added a copy of the marriage transcript of Thomas Reynolds and Sarah A Gray to Sarah's profile.
Sarah Ann Reynolds

Unfortunately it lacks vital information, but it does show a connection with the Sibrey family. One of the witnesses is the wife of Joseph Sibrey who is the uncle of Thomas Reynolds (Farlow).
Esther Sibraa (Lord)

Joseph and Esther Sibrey and family moved to the Yass but I have yet to find the date.

Leanne you conclude above that it is reasonable to assume that Sarah was not the husband of Thomas because she was not made executor. Perhaps they were separated - no record in the Divorce Index, or perhaps she was ill and couldn't take on the work.

While Sarah's profile says she died 1860, I can't find a BDM record.

First, Joseph and Esther Sibrey lived in the Yass area from the mid 1840s.

Second, I've added a copy of the marriage transcript for Ann / Anne Reynolds who is in geni.com as the wife of Thomas Reynolds born in 1827. Thomas Reynolds

Again unfortunately there is nothing definitive to tie the marriage to Thomas Reynolds (Farlow)

The marriage of Ann Donnell/Connell was in 1855 in Sydney, At the time Thomas Reynolds (Farlow) was in Yass where two children were born with Sarah as mother: Jane was born in 1855 and Thomas jr in 1857.

The marriage between Ann Donnell/Connell was at St Mary's Cathedral Sydney. The transcript states the bride and groom were both Catholic. Whereas Thomas and Sarah were both Church of England on the transcript of their marriage. There does not seem to be a connection between the witnesses of the Donnell/Reynolds and the Sibrey/Farlow/Reynolds families.

So, with the documentation we have at the moment, I would say that Sarah Gray was most probably the wife of Thomas Reynolds (Farlow).

Since the Ann Donnell/Thomas Reynolds marriage would overlap the Gray/Reynolds marriage, I think Ann Donnell was married to a different Thomas Reynolds. It is surprising how many Thomas Reynolds there were at that time. Three different Thomas Reynolds were married in the Orange district between 1858 and 1860 to three different brides named Ann -- Gavin, Keon and Ahern.

...

Following another lot of merges I have separated out the Thomas REYNOLDS to try to work out where they belong. I have made sure that all the current sources are shown in the correct profile

Thomas Reynolds

Thomas Reynolds

  • Religion - Catholic
  • married Ann / Anne Reynolds in 1855 in Sydney
  • had children between 1859 and 1863 Sydney and Maitland

Thomas Reynolds

  • unknown Religion
  • married https: //www.geni.com/people/Anne-Reynolds/6000000009191922929 in 1860 in Orange
  • had children 1861-1870 in Orange

Thomas Reynolds

Thomas Reynolds

From the current sources it is impossible to tell which one married which woman (or if there are other Thomas REYNOLDS that they married)

Can anyone add any more sources or information?

Based on geography - I am leaning towards

  • Sarah GRAY marrying Thomas FARLOW / REYNOLDS who died 1959 - married and lived in Yass, died in Gunning (40km)
  • Anne KEON marrying Thomas REYNOLDS who died 1894 - married and lived in Orange, died in Orange
  • Ann DONNELL marrying a completely different Thomas REYNOLDS - married in Sydney and lived in Maitland

Here is another Thomas Reynolds in Orange

Thomas Reynolds 1811-1873

married Anne Reynolds - Donovan in 1860 and had children between 1860 and 1870

I agree with your last post.

While we are on this family. Could the second marriage be removed from Sarah Reynolds (Gray) it is marked as an inconsistency. Her death is recorded as 1860 and then the marriage to Allen is added.

The Sarah who married John Henry Allen in 1872 was born Reynolds. See:
https://www.myheritage.com/research/record-1-31502411-2-4569/sarah-...

I will get back to you about Ann Reynolds/Donovan (Ahern). Anne Reynolds - Donovan

I believe I have her attached to the wrong parents. She was born in Ireland and not NSW. Just need to get all the details together.

I was agreeing that your groupings based on geography seem correct to me.

New issue - the same children have been attached to 2 different families

Family 1 - Thomas Reynolds and Anne Reynolds

Family 2 - Thomas Reynolds and Anne Reynolds - Donovan

Children

Can anyone add any sources that tie them to a particular set of parents?

Anne AHERN and her husband John DONOVAN had a son called John DONOVAN born in 1878 - it would seem unlikely that she is also the mother of John REYNOLDS did not die until 1927

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/144901506?searchTerm=McD...
Lily May McDOUGALL died 7 April 1952 aged 76
Formerly Lily DONOVAN
Step sister of William and John REYNOLDS

I'm waiting on a copy of the BDM transcripts for Ann Reynolds-Donovan (Ahern). I'll let you know what I find.

I've added a transcript to the profile of Thomas Reynolds

Unfortunately it doesn't list his children. It does confirm that it was Thomas Reynolds (1811-1873) who married Ann Ahern.

I'll add the transcript for Ann Reynolds - Donovan later today. It does include the children but adds more complications.
