Anne Brannen - this is over my head. Can you or others look at it?

Debbie Gambrell Writes:

I'm pretty sure the parents connected to this ancestor are incorrect, based on dates alone. His parents, as connected, were almost 100 years before his birth AND his connected father died December 15, 1080, long before this Waldeve's birth.

Other sources have this couple as his parents;

Gospatrick (Dunbar) of Dunbar and Deirdre (Unknown) Dunbar and the dates for that couple make sense.

Daniel Gittinger...

I'm sure the confusion is that the family has so many men with the name Gospatric(k) in so many generations.

Anyway, the profile is locked so I'm unable to make any changes, but if you look at the dates for the parents as they are presently connected, those can't be his parents.

On the 2nd couple, Gostpatricus and Derdere had issue:

1. Waldeve. (He married a Scottish woman called Deirdre, and by her fathered two sons, Waltheof, Earl of Lothian and Patrick.) Waldeve and Waltheof being two names are seen interchangeable repeatedly in this family and describing the same person. All the same-name fathers, sons, etc. just have this line confused.

2. Patrick, who was Laird of Greenlaw.

3. Walter.

Thanks for your assistance.

That profile has parents that make sense chronologically.

I will go look at the Gospatricks and see if I can figure out the problem.

Got it. Waldeve had been stuck onto his granddad.

Fixed, but I'm gonna go clean some stuff up.

Thanks Anne Brannen - I worked on this a long time ago.
