I simply want to say that he was one of the most BRILLIANT MINDS to ever walk this beautiful Planet. He took us to the Moon, and it would have been further if not for ridiculous sums of money. Of all my favorite Scientists he is my FAVORITE. When I was only 11 years old, I designed a space mission to Mars with a unique guidance system and sent it to Dr. von Braun. He was gracious enough to look it over, and share it with colleagues...one of whom became a friend of mine for life. He was the Director of Propulsion for NASA. Today, I am a Theoretical Physicist. His simple encouragement still means the UNIVERSE to me. Thank you for reading !!!.............. John
Kevin, I am not totally familiar with "Paperclip" but if it has to do with the great Genius, then, I am interested. What can you tell me about it...or, direct me to a source??? Thank you. Dr von Braun shows up in my extended Family Tree since we are both descended from the Noble German Family, von Doring/von Doering. You cannot imagine how proud that makes me, even though it is a distant relation..........John
Wernher Von Braun is my 11th cousin once removed. A much closer cousin worked under Braun with a team that designed the space shuttle in the 1960s-1970s at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama - Judson James Hart.
Judson James Hart
He is listed in this report titled "Asymmetrical booster ascent guidance and control system design study. Volume 5: Space shuttle powered explicit guidance":
