But he wasn’t “the first.” Apparently genealogy was a “thing” with the Founding Fathers of the United States.
For example, one of the Adams (was it Gov. Samuel Adams, Signer of the "Declaration of Independence" ?) mentioned that he was the sixth generation from England.
Ben Franklin’s father had the family bible brought from England.
