The Geni records after Gilbert de Brione starting with:
Crispin du Bec, seigneur du Bec
are different to what is shown in the Devon Visitations...........here's the link:

Can anyone throw light on why the difference

One possible explanation is "incompetent/lazy/negligent Heralds". The Visitations of Shropshire are notoriously NOT reliable, probably because the visiting Heralds skived off and didn't do a proper job. And it's likely that was not the only screw-up.

If in doubt check with Medieval Lands http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/ and see what they have to say - the site manager,Charles Cawley, tries to work from primary documents (Visitations are secondary, not primary, for the most part) as much as possible.
