I am reading the will of Rebecca Smith dated 20 Mar 1724. She makes bequeaths to her brothers Benoni Smith, of Glastonbury and Timothy and also her sisters Mary, Mercy, Mehitable, but also to her honored mother Mary Smith. There is also mention of money she received of her uncle Joseph Church. Supposedly Samuel Smith, of Hartford married first Mary Smith (her presumed mother since she is supposedly born before 1700) and second Mary Smith, in 1701, the first dying in 1700 and the second in 1707 so who is the honored mother here in 1724?

I am researching Benoni Smith of Wethersfield/East Hartford/Glastonbury b. 1700. Thanks!

As a clue for this question, it is postulated without documentation that Samuel Smith’s 2nd wife was Mary Smith

So Mary Harrison is showing up with the same parents as Mary Church and a sister of Mary the first wife and she is shown as dying 23 Dec 1707.

What is interesting is that Philip Smith, Samuel's brother had two wives both named Mary, with the first, Mary Bliss, dying on the same date as someone listed the date of death of the 2nd wife of Samuel's 2nd wife, supposedly Mary Harrison - 23 Dec 1707. Philip's 2nd wife was May Robinson.

So I think people are confusing the two Mary Smith's 2nd wives, and the 2nd wife of Samul was still living in 1724 per Rebecca's will.
