Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087 - it’s a match to me. Merged Sarah Crawshaw

Thank you so much again, Erica Howton

Erica Howton

Thanks, cleaning up that line and two others. :)

Thanks so much, Erica Howton!

Please look at this merge request https://www.geni.com/merge/compare/6000000000689048944?to=600000020.... It has some info that matches, but the one on the right has no family members added. John Niles, of Braintree is my 8th great grandfather and I hesitate to do a merge that may create problems, even thou there are no family members added to the profile on the right.

Thanks,
Pat

Patricia Ann Scoggin - all the data & relationship fields are locked so nothing will change from merging, I’ll do so & resolve any data conflicts to the MP values.

Erica Howton, Thank you so much. You are awesome & so helpful. Have a great day and Angels be with you!!!

The two profiles are the same, but the two wives and their children don't work. I'm getting conflicting information and I feel like I'm going in circles with this.

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/148968349/jonathan-wetherbee?_g....

Mass. Compiled marriages:
Name Jonathan Wetherbee
Marriage Date 15 Nov 1780
Place Stow, Middlesex, Massachusetts
Spouse Sarah Whitman

Private User - From WikiTree: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wetherbee-522 and https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wetherbee-202 do not represent the same person because: These two profile, while sharing the same birth and death information, have different wives with marriage dates and marriages that overlap. This needs further research. Appears they are being conflated in some manner.

Emily Kent Marget I know, that's why I posted here, because I can't figure it out.

Private User - I think the part that needs the most work is who married Abigail Farwell.
I found a book about the Farwell family that defines Abigail and discusses the Jonathan Weatherbee that she married. His death info reads: June 23, 1811, aged 63. (link - https://www.familysearch.org/library/books/viewer/473379/?offset=0#...)

Emily Kent Marget the link takes me to a search page, as do two of the 3 links you added to Abigail Farwell's bio. Either way, I'm just not finding the documentation to figure out Jonathan Weatherbee.

Private User & Emily Kent Marget

I added more references (be sure and look at the sources tabs) and am convinced Jonathan Wetherbee, of Stow who married Sarah Whitney was conflated with Col. Jonathan Wetherbee who married Abigail Goodridge at all of our usual resources: FindAGrave, Wikitree, FamilySearch, Ancestry. Both widows remarried, they can’t possibly be the same man.

To me, Jonathan Wetherbee, of Stow is fairly complete, including children. The Harvard man I’m bombing out on. Logically he belongs to the family of John Wetherbee, (III) but that John died before he was born and his sons are too young to have fathered this Jonathan. So maybe expand VR search area, perhaps, to find his origin family. And his children need filling in.

I should also pass on a comment from an ancestry tree for https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wetherbee-202

Ancestry tree well sourced, no parents attached. Comment: “born About 1758. Uncertain parents. Two births conflated.”

In other words, it is possible that the Stow birth record in 1749/50 actually is for Jonathan of Harvard. We do not know the age at death for Jonathan of Stow, and we do know from his tombstone that the Harvard man died at age 63.

I find it less likely but should be noted, along with the detail that Harvard vital records began in 1792, but probably people were living there before then.

Well -

According to Alexander, Lura F. Genealogy, descendants of William and Dorcas Fallass of Boston, Massachusetts … (1929) page 103-104 < AncestrySharing >; (document)

Col. Jonathan Wetherbee (1749-1811) was the son of Joseph Wetherbee, Sr. & Elizabeth Wetherbee and the man recorded at Stow VR in 1749.

Erica Howton - Thanks for finishing what JC started.

Emily Kent Marget - do you agree? It’s still bothering me a bit about the Stow birth record

Stow VR has his birth record as "(WETHERBE (see Watherbee, Weatherbee, Wetherbee, Wetherby, Whitherby, Witherbee, Witherby)) Jonathan, s. Joseph and Elizabeth, Apr. 22, 1749." <archive.org>

But, the biographical details for Col. Jonathan Wetherbee fit the Harvard family very well.

But, the Harvard family originated in Stow, so we “should” be able to locate “cousin” Jonathan Wetherbee, of Stow parents …. (Sigh)

What does the DAR (or any other Colonial organization) have for Col. Jonathan Wetherbee
Nearby towns to Stow - Sudbury, Framingham, Marlborough, Concord.

The family of Abigail Goodridge went from Chelmsford to Groton to points further west.

Emily Kent Marget
Col. Jonathan Wetherbee is not in the DAR database. His father is there with son's Joseph, and Hepsebeth.

Erica Howton - I found a website for the Whitney family (https://wiki.whitneygen.org/wrg/index.php?title=Family:Wetherbee,_Jonathan_(1749-b1794)) that has Col. Jonathan Wetherbee son of Joseph Wetherbee, Sr. and Elizabeth Wetherbee as the husband of Sarah Whitney Since Sarah married a Whitney after the death of her husband, this site could be correct.

https://wiki.whitneygen.org/wrg/index.php?title=Family:Wetherbee,_J... Is an excellent “Wiki” for the Whitney family,,

They describe Sarah Whitman, Abraham Whitney, and her children correctly, and Elizabeth Whitney correctly. Elizabeth Wetherbee

But Sarah (Whitman) (Wetherbee) Whitney’s children are not the same as Col. Jonathan Wetherbee’s children.

See his Will and probate package:

https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000205840778888

And those are the children described at the Farwwell book as Abigail’s:

https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000205842768830

What I'm trying to say is that Jonathan Weatherbee, son of Elizabeth Wetherbee should be the husband of Sarah Whitney
Jonathan Weatherbee, husband of Abigail, is the Col. Jonathan Weatherbee who died in 1811.

The death dates for both men are correct in Geni. Sarah and Abigail are correct. The children are properly on the correct mother. (Lewis Wetherbee is an unknown. NOT listed on the Whitney website. NOT listed in Stow VR. Message being sent to manager.) The birth info for both men is incorrect.

I do not dispute that the dates for Joseph born in Stow in 1749 make sense for the Jonathan who died in Harvard in 1811. That said, I do not believe that Joseph of Stow ever left Stow. I believe that Jonathan, who lived in Harvard prior to his marriage to Abigail Farwell, was born in some other town of eastern Massachusetts - Chelmsford, Tyngsborough, Concord, perhaps Essex County. It may take digging through deeds in Harvard for any Weatherbee from about 1740 to 1770 to figure out the exact Jonathan Weatherbee that married Abigail Farwell.

OK, so you disagree with the profile for Joseph Wetherbee, Sr. who apparently lived most of his life in Harvard?

https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000205849456876

http://services.dar.org/public/dar_research/search_adb/?action=full...

Stow VR has only one birth for Joseph & Elizabeth that I could see:

https://archive.org/details/vitalrecordsofst00stow/page/90/mode/2up

Lewis Wetherbee is listed on Jonathan Wetherbee of Stow’s probate record:

https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000205840301862

See No, 24175, top of 2nd column

Josiah Wetherbee of Stow is top of column 1, by the way

Why would Jonathan die in Stow if he was the son of Joseph & Elizabeth, who were in Harvard having children in 1751 & 1752?

I added the records where Joseph & Elizabeth are shown as parents in order to her “about.”
