Erica Howton thank you

It appears Martha Clack is conflated with Martha Cargill.
These show as duplicates of husband Thomas Beavers

From https://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=beav...

Children of CATHERINE RENO and JOHN CARGILE are:
*i. John M.6 Cargile.
*ii. Charles Cargile, b. February 14, 1764.
*iii. Catherine Cargile.

From the above record, it doesn't look like Martha was a Cargill.

I can't seem to find anything on this family.

Regarding his father; there were two merges on him that are too old to see, but Daniel Brown was merged into Hosannah Brown, twice.

Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087 - Thomas Beavers, Sr. did marry Martha A. Beavers I think.

Merging done & documentation added.

Thank you, Erica Howton

Hi Erica and Cynthia, I’m descended from the Beavers family as well and had done some research on Thomas Beavers and wife Martha years ago. I agree there is no evidence that she was a Clack. This confusion was likely based upon her daughter marrying a Clack. Regarding the question as to whether Martha’s maiden name was Cargile - I don't have my exact notes in front of me, but I believe this assertion may be based upon the record of John Cargile and wife Catherine selling land to Thomas Beavers in Loudon County, Virginia in 1763. And then the supposition that John and Catherine Cargile were Martha's parents followed.

Of course, this is not enough - in and of itself - to prove that Martha's maiden name was Cargile. Let alone that she was the daughter of John and Catherine Cargile. Furthermore. I believe this John Cargile was born about 1719 or very close to that time. He was likely born after his supposed daughter but was certainly not old enough to be Martha’s father.

As I recall there was some indication that John Cargile / Cargyle may be related to a David Carlisle / Carlyle, and that this could be Martha’s maiden name. But currently, unless there's some other evidence, I think Martha's maiden name is unknown, and she is almost certainly not the daughter of John Cargile and Catherine Reneau. I'm sorry I'll try to locate my original notes, for further primary source documentation, but I wanted to get this out there as you're currently working on this family.

(ps: the wiki tree reference is wonky and seemingly unsourced, but also that is a southside Virginia Cargile family, not the northern neck Cargile/Carlile line)

Following up on the references listed under Martha LNU Beavers, in order:

The MyHeritage tree lists no sources.

The wiki tree reference specifically states that there are no proper sources for this claimed connection.

The family search reference has no sources and does not list a maiden name for Martha.

The find a grave reference has no sources.

The ancestor.FamilySearch Org. reference does not give Martha’s maiden name.

The US and International Marriage Records 1560 to 1900 is not considered a valid source.

The ancestry.com reference is to a tree where Thomas and Martha begin having children at age 13, and go on to have at least 20 children over the next 40 years. Several of these children have the same name. And Martha marries Thomas at least four times.

The find a grave reference is the same unsourced find a grave reference previously mentioned.

The Thomas Beavers will is a correct primary source document but it does not give Martha's maiden name, nor does it agree with most of the other references. Also, while Thomas Beavers signs by mark, and the transcriber has written his name as “Thomas Beaver,” the will itself lists his name as Thomas Beavers multiple times, his children and brother are surnamed Beavers in the will, every other reference outside the will that I have seen has his name as Thomas Beavers, and in general all other family members list the name as Beavers with an s.

The “Pratt Family of North Carolina and Alabama” references the 1763 deed and Thomas Beavers’ will, but does not state Martha’s maiden name was Cargile,

(Filed under “for what it’s worth”: the National Genealogical Society and many other authorities stress that online trees should not be used as sources or references. If a tree has a reference to a primary source document or document (s) within their records, that (double checked and verified) source may be used, but not the tree itself.)

Private User - a different John & Catherine Cargill, of course.

But I agree there’s not enough evidence to make Martha A. Beavers a daughter of John Cargill & Catherine Cargill and will detach.

These are different people, Private User

Removed match.

Different people, removed match. Same death date is meaningless, although one profile could be in error.

Erica Howton I'm just getting caught up on discussions.

I think this is the link I meant to post. https://www.geni.com/merge/compare/6000000008630935389?return=dupli...

I saw the discussion on the Loy line. Thank you for all of your work!

Here's another I need you to look at, please. https://www.geni.com/merge/compare/6000000004294484929?return=match...

Private User - Jane Hancock (merge & data conflicts) resolved.

Private User - ignore the match. This representation is a deliberate by curators. Ruth G. Moon Was the grand daughter of Capt. Christopher Hudson & Cary Hudson but we’re uncertain of her father. I re-set him as Richard Hutson to be clearer.

I removed the match of William Fleming & William Fleming

Siblings do not match.

As always, thanks a million Erica Howton for the help with Jane Hancock! :-)

Would someone look at this merge request as Thomas is my 10th great grandfather: https://www.geni.com/merge/compare/6000000007664600629?to=600000020...
The mother's name is different and there isn't anything in Thomas's About section that adds any info and the info for the mother & grandmother do not agree with the Thomas on the Left which is also MP'd.

In regard to https://www.geni.com/merge/compare/6000000004294484929?return=match...

They match, the father's match, and one of the two Archibald brothers on the right match the Archibald brother on the left. The mother's seem to be the issue. Each of the brothers John and Robert are close enough to be a match.
