Private User Your Links didn’t come through, can you post again ?

Yes, I have consistent difficulty getting links to show up when I type @Name. Nothing happens.
Please see this message exchange with Steven Ferry (whom I can also not tag).

I believe you had correct parents for Mary Cooley, but Mr Wolfson came in and added Lt. Francis again. Not sure of the details as no sources or remarks are given. I copied you as you are curator for both Lt. Francis Griswold and
George Griswold

Private User Fixed & locked relationships. I’ll also post on the other discussion & tag Steve Ferry.

Thank you, Erica, aka Superwoman. :^)

Erica Howton Thanks. I agree with R D Parsons - you rock.

Posted this --possibly erroneously-- on Colonial American portal. Reposting as follows:

I'm looking to clean up duplicates in these trees. My ancestor Col. Adam Comstock descends from both these families via siblings Elizabeth Elizabeth Comstock and Capt. Richard Arnold, offspring of Thomas Thomas Arnold, of Ilchester & Providence

The line from Elizabeth is via her son Hazadiah to grandson Gideon. The line from Capt. Richard is via son Richard, and grandson Richard III, to great-granddaughter Ruth who married Gideon.

When I try to assign parents to either Elizabeth Mercy Comstock (Arnold) or to Samuel Comstock II on existing Gideon Comstock tree, I am blocked from doing so with the admonition it would "split the tree."

Any help would be much appreciated. Gideon Comstock

Other links didn't transfer. Capt. Richard, Capt. Richard Arnold
and Col. Adam, Lt. Colonel Adam Comstock

Zombies were getting in your way on Samuel Comstock l & Ann Smith (who is missing her 2nd husband if you wanted to find and attach him).

Elizabeth Comstock Looks OK to me?

So does Capt. Richard Arnold

Is Gideon Comstock ok now ?

Have never understood "zombie," but all looks great now. Thank you! Will see what I can find for Ann Smith.

"Zombie" = a profile that ought to be Deceased but is still marked Living. They need correction (colloquially, "killing") whenever and wherever found.

"That profile needed killin'"

Took some time to read the lengthy notes on Ann Smith

Wasn't John Smith-the-mason's son John Smith her second husband?

"The Town Council of Providence took action about the estate of Samuel Comstock and John Smith, deceased, on March 9, 1660. On May 4, 1661, Anne Smith of Providence, widow of John Smith, formerly wife of Samuel Comstock, deceased, sold to Roger Mowry the house and home share of her husband, Samuel Comstock. It comprised four acres in a row of houses in the north part of Providence."

and
"Poor Anne seems to have been left a widow with young sons twice in succession. First Samuel Comstock died leaving her with their sons, Samuel & Daniel Comstock. She married John Smith, possibly taking on his daughter Margaret, and had another son, John Smith III, who would have been only an infant in 1661. He was quite possibly born after his father's death. Records show she found it necessary to bind out Daniel Comstock to William Carpenter in 1662. It is not known where the young Samuel Comstock made his home in the subsequent years. Quite possibly after her misfortunes she moved away, as the third John Smith later returned from Massachusetts and turned his "rights" over to his half brother Samuel Comstock."

and
"John Smith, son of John and Anne Comstock, is here presented as the son of John Smith, known by the name of Jameco [as I had supposed from the tax records]. He has returned as an adult, from his home in Massachusetts, to claim his rights in the town of Providence which had been secured by his mother soon after his birth. In turn he sells the inherited land back to Samuel Comstock, son of his mother Anne and her first husband Samuel Comstock - in other words, to his half-brother. I wonder, too, if Anne Comstock Smith did not leave Providence soon after securing the rights of her son - perhaps she remarried for a third time and subsequently made her home in Massachusetts."

What am I missing @Erica Howton Erica Howton

We’re missing his profile ! It done got away and needs to be put back.

Erica Howton - wonderful finding the missing kid

The Tuttles have problems again!
William Tuttle has 2 mothers and duplicated siblings. Likely cause - https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=73217956610.

Lt. Simon Tuttle has duplicate children. https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=73217978130 appears to be the cause.

The person doing the merge is also the person creating the duplicates. (4th person in the past 10 days or so that I have caught doing that! GRRR)

I wish there was a way to stop people before they add profiles for already existing people.

Hi Erica, when you're done with the Tuttles, the following profile has multiple parents that cannot be cleaned up due to relationship locking, plus a zombie child:

John Pease, of Salem & Enfield

There are more merges outstanding with the Peases; hopefully you see them as well?

John Davis, of Hampton, Haverhill & Dover has data conflicts. Cause - https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=73238735590.

I will not override locked fields (place of death) even though I collaborate with several people who can do that.

Cicely Davis has locked fields and data conflicts.

Causes - https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=73236837540 and https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=73236828600

Thanks for the help in clearing this from the "tree".

Karl David Wright Sorry for late reply, I had myself a Pease party a couple of days ago.

Emily Kent Marget I’m just about done cleaning up around Cecily.

Take a look at her husband’s origin story, I’m feeling uncomfortable.

Erica Howton Here is the cause for Cicely's husband to have parents of different names. Also for his dates to be different. https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=73236874750

https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=73236860140 does not help on the date problem either.

I agree with you that there are likely 2 James Davis born in England around the same time within 30 miles or so of each other.

Not sure how to fix this one.

Agnes Davis Is the problem to be unmerged.

No such thing as a knight - John Davis, of Acton Turville - sending a son as a Haverhill Massachusetts settler.

I can see we need a Davis cleanup, they look pretty glued together.

Apparently the Thayer genealogy has a lot of difficulties with it, and I just cleaned it up again to what my understanding of “best we know” is.

I don’t know if there’s been as thorough published comparable research done on the Davis family. So my feeling is to present James Davis, of Haverhill as “parents unknown” until we know better.

I’ve linked his previous Geni father John Davis, of Acton Turville within the profile.

Further, I will link Thomas Davis, of Haverhill within profile as possible brother, this may be proveable these days. Old Families was hesitant and the will of John of Acton Turville, in his profile, does not mention a Thomas.

https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000044191472863&

Sorry - the Will dated 1626 mentions family in this order: Samuel, Thomas, James (his son John, his daughter Sara), Sara my now wife.

It’s possible James of Haverhill had a daughter Sara who was living in 1626, but the only one I see was born 1642.

Old Families is right to be so skeptical.

Erica Howton Thanks for sorting out James Davis. What a mess!

I am so confused on the generations ...
