Why is the date of death shown as 15 February 1729 when MOOC10/3.43 dated 19 December 1722 refers to him as being deceased? This is also supported by the inventory for Frederik Corbach (MOOC8/4.56) dated 10 February 1725 that states "van den boedel van Hans Jacob Brits".

The date of death sources in this profile for Hans Jacob Brits refer to other websites as follows:

1) WikiTree (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Brits-69) - source attributed to Andrew Dippenaar but with no supporting evidence.
2) FamilySearch Family Tree (https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LZPC-D39) - there is no supporting evidence for the date of death.

I propose that the date of death in this profile be changed to "before 19 December 1722" (or more accurately "from 23 November 1722 to 19 December 1722") - the inventories didn't occur too long after a person died.

Hello Michael
I have looked at the MOOC10.3.4.3: http://databases.tanap.net/mooc/main_article.cfm?id=MOOC10%2F3%2E43...

I have changed the incorrect info on my own MyHeritage profile for Hans Jacob Brits to Before Dec 19 1722, because I think your information is more correct and I accept your proposal to change the Geni.com profile as well.

Kind regards
Sandra Hughes

Hans died between 23 Nov 1722 and 19 Dec 1722.

If you look at the MOOC doc MOOC 8/4.85 DATE 23 NOV 1722 of Dina.
Hans was still alive.
Mooc doc. MOOC 10/3.43 DATE 19 DEC 1722. wylen Hans Brits and wylen Dina.

19 December 1722 was her distribution account not her husbands .

So was 23 Novemver 1722 their combined will or his distribution account ?

Marie - from what I read she was still alive 23 November 1722 unless she died later that day after signing the document
Her husband possibly still alive as he made his mark ?
So most likely both of them died between 23 November 1722 and 19 December 1722

Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.

We can’t connect to the server at databases.tanap.net.

If that address is correct, here are three other things you can try:

Try again later.
Check your network connection.
If you are connected but behind a firewall, check that Firefox has permission to access the Web.

So I'm using comments above by Marie and Phillipp, and this in the About to lock date of death as between 23 Nov 1722 and 19 Dec 1722.

Hans Jacob Brits was alive on 23 November 1722:

Inventaris der goederen naargelaten en met 'er dood ontruijmt bij wijlen Dina Willemsz: ten voordeele van haar naargelatene man Hans Jacob Brits ... en 7 hare kinderen ... Een plaats gelegen aan de Libeekse Revier genaamt Koornhoff ... den 23 November 1722 [Inventories of the Orphan Chamber Cape Town Archives Repository, South Africa Ref no.: MOOC 8/4.85 on http://databases.tanap.net/mooc/]

He had died by 19 December 1722:

Vendu rol ... op den 19 X:br 1722 op de hofstede gen:t Koornhoop ... met ’er dood ontruijmt bij wijlen Dina Willemsz: gewesen huijs vrouw van wylen den burger Hans Jacob Brits ...

Let me know if anyone disagrees with that field lock.

FYI: The Tanap database has been down since January and no one seems to know what is happening.
