On December 1 1941 at Hobart, Mary Ann, dearly beloved wife of the late Alfred KEAN of Sorrell aged 83 years

23 June 1921 The Mercury reported

In loving rememberance of my dear husband Alfred KEAN, who departed this life of June 23 1912

NOTE: Bernard is the son of Mary Ann BIRCHALL, so Mary Ann BIRCHALL's husband passed away in 1912

9 December 1941 The Mercury reports

The funeral of Mary Ann KEAN aged 83 years, took place at St George's Church cemetery, Sorell, Mrs KEAN was the wife of the late Mr Alfred KEAN and was a member of the BIRCHALL family, early settlers in the Sorrell district. Chief mourners were Messrs EW, CA, F and BJ KEAN (sons) V, C, W, T, R and L KEAN (grandsons). The service was conducted by The Rev B B Richard. Funeral arrangements were carried our by Mr A H QUINN

From that we know that Mary Ann BIRCHALL died December 1941

From the newspaper reports we know that

* Alfred KEAN, husband of Mary Ann BIRCHALL died 23/6/1912

* Mary Ann JONES died 9/6/1939 aged 74 born c1865
* Alfred KEAN, husband of Mary Ann JONES was still alive in 1939

I seem to have done this merge, hope it was ok, otherwise not up to scratch with them.

Alfred Henry Kean was merged into Alfred Henry Albert Victor Kean by Sharyn "Shaz" Proctor (Duthy).

I looked at the merge and I think the mixup was probably before the merge. Ie the merge was correct based on the surrounding profiles but I think that the wrong wife has been attached to the wrong Alfred prior to the merge.

Here's what I think is reasonable

John KEAN and Jane McCARTHY had a son Alfred Henry KEAN in 1858 Tasmania. This Alfred married Mary Ann BIRCHALL and had children. Alfred died in 1912 and Mary Ann died 1941

John and Jane had a son Frederick Edward KEAN who married Jemima BELLETT.
Frederick and Jemima has a son Alfred Henry Albert Victor KEAN in 1865 Tasmania. This Alfred married Mary Ann JONES and had children.

My rationale
* the Alfred who died in 1912 was born c1858 and he married Mary Ann BIRCHALL as per the newspaper articles

* Mary Ann JONES husband was still alive in 1939. His name Alfred Henry Albert Victor Kean matches with some of the birth records of the children
