It says on Wikipedia that Woody's grandparents were from Russia and Austria, but looking at his tree shows that his grandpa was from Kaliningrad, which was a part of Germany when he immigrated. So what is he, a Russian jew or a Yekke?

History of Koenigsberg/ Kalinengrad.
How about a Russian Yekke?
Is that so important ? Or why is it so important for you?

My mother-in-law was from Koenigsberg. I related to her as a Jekke.
She grew up with German culture and language. Was German culture more respectable for all Jews living in Germany at the time?
Did they hide any East European family history from "real" Jekkes?
Where were her parents from? Her maiden name was Kovner.
Other relatives on her mother's side were from Russia.

Kovner Name Meaning

Jewish (eastern Ashkenazic): habitational name for someone from Kaunas in Lithuania, from its Yiddish name, kovne (Kovno in Russian).

I was just curious about why it says his grandpa was from Russia when Kaliningrad/Koenigsberg wasn't a part of Russia back then.
