I will start with a general category for those two major categories ("Hypnotics / Sedatives" & "Stimulants") Should "Overdose" be added to each title??? I can put them under the OD project even though they might fit under another category - accidental or suicide, or homicide.

Erica Howton, Kevin Lawrence Hanit,

The first one is done... see: Died from Sedative-Hypnotic Overdose
https://www.geni.com/projects/Died-from-Sedative-Hypnotic-Overdose/...

Is it too long??? Did I pick the right pix? Please feel free to delete or modify that 2nd paragraph (See Related projects...) if it is inappropriate or could be better worded differently.

I like it and love the picture, it’s the 1st celebs that come to mind. The second paragraph offers an easy suggestion, it’s quite helpful.

I will start working on one for the "Stimulant" overdose in a little while... need a little break. Will probably use the same site for the "Notables" as it looked quite informative & inclusive. I don't really think we need a separate project for those that are under that heading (cocaine, amphetamines) unless you think it would be a good idea. What do you think, Erica??? It seems to be getting toooooo specific. However, I haven't looked to see if there would be enough people who would be added to either diagnosis.

My general feeling is it’s - ups, downs, or combos, so unless there’s a compelling reason, those plus opioid is plenty.

Died from Stimulant Overdose
https://www.geni.com/projects/Died-from-Stimulant-Overdose/45774 is now a project.

Erica Howton
FYI, I moved the Opioid OD project from under the Addiction to under the Drug Overdose heading so it now has all three types of drug OD's in one place. The Opioid OD project could go under the Addiction heading, but I think it is better in it's new "home". What do you think???

How about the "Tags" -- If you think there should be more/other, please feel free to add them... if toooo many, feel free to remove them...

Is the section entitled: Notable Stimulants too long??? If so please feel free to delete or modify.

Yes, Opioid OD project belongs in cause of death where you now have it. The stimulants project is ... Stimulating. Looks good. Nothing seems too much.

Unknown Profile, Erica Howton,
I think he would fit in the (https://www.geni.com/projects/People-who-died-as-a-result-of-Surgic...) category, unless he had a stomach problem before surgery -- such as stomach ulcers??? He could go in both if so... Be sure to put the exact diagnosis in the "cause of death" box in the profile & any/all details known about it in the About section in the profile... What do you think, Erica???

Yes, that's the correct project.

Erica Howton,
Thanks Erica for you input. I always appreciate it.

Erica Howton,
Do you think it would be helpful to put in parenthesis primary examples after the Opioid OD, Sedative-Hypnotic OD & Stimulant OD headings in the portal???

In the portal it would look like this:
* Opioid Overdose (i.e. morphine, codeine, methadone, oxycodone, hydrocodone, etc)
* Sedative-Hypnotic Overdose (ie. barbiturates, sedatives, etc)
* Stimulant Overdose (i.e. methamphetamines, codeine, heroine, etc)

I don't want to insult peoples intelligence with any of this, but some may be unaware of the drugs go in which classifications...

I wouldn’t. It clutters up the portal.

ok

Erica Howton,
I have modified & added to the project "People who died from a Stroke" --
https://www.geni.com/project-27758/edit. I found 4 pix but am unsure which would be best for the project. Which do you think would be better--I kind of like the one with "Stroke-the Silent Killer". But the "FAST" one is also good...

For a cause of death project https://www.geni.com/photo/view?album_type=project&photo_id=600... is perhaps more relevant

I haven't added a Cause of Death project for quite a while, but found that I needed a project for [https://www.geni.com/projects/Killed-in-Action-War/47182 Killed in Action] so have created one. There are many war projects that need to be added to the project that I hope others will add. Also are there other "tags" that could be added??? Please feel free to add them to the project. Also if you find other articles/references that are appropriate for this project, please feel free to add them to the list.

Would also appreciate feed-back on choice of pix. There are 3 options. Since war fatalities are world & nation wide, I didn't want to pick one that reflected America... I wanted one that was a little more "generic". I also only listed 10 people for the "famous people"... Rankers has 291 listed!!!

Erica Howton.
With the latest mass shooting in Florida, do we maybe need a project for "Killed in a Mass Shooting"??? I found several sites with good info on this subject. It does seem to be a more "recent" phenomenon & the USA seems to have more episodes that other countries, but we are not alone. Ck [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_shooting Wikipedia - Mass shooting] -- it has a section that lists By continent and region.

I think it would go under the "Homicide" project heading in the CoD project... although there is already a project for "Shot" or "Homicide by gunshot"-- I'm not sure which it the heading (am going from a printed older copy of the listings.) although that one sounds like it might be only 1 or 2 people have been shot, not a mass shooting... (I haven't looked at the project for "Shot".

Yes, I think Mass Shootings is its own project under Homicide.

I set the KIA project photo to the one I responded to best.

Erica Howton, I couldn't decide between the cemetery & the one with the boots. I do agree that the cemetery scene may be best.

I will work on a "Mass Shooting" project today. My heart goes out to the family & friends of those who died & were injured in the Florida shooting on the 14th and all of those in other mass shootings. I wonder what it will take before States & Congress will do something!!!!!!

Erica Howton, I am not sure what to put as an intro to this project. Would this be appropriate: "Please add those who died in a mass shooting or as a result of injuries sustained from a mass shooting." Or should I just leave it with the definition of Mass Shooting???

I will put the above statement in the project for now. Please look at it & let you look at it to see if appropriate or not.

Erica Howton, I hope you don't mind, but I updated the "Homicide" project ([https://www.geni.com/projects/Homicide/28275 Homicide]) & added a pix. Does it still need any other modifications?

The updates look good and I think the text & pix are right.

Thank you, Pat!

Erica Howton,
How do you combine 2 similar projects??? It has been brought to my attention that there is another project about mass shootings @ https://www.geni.com/projects/Young-Male-Shooters/26542 (it has 19 people). It needs to be combined with the one I created @ https://www.geni.com/projects/Killed-in-a-Mass-Shooting/47191

Is combining 2 projects & deleting one something I can do or would it be better to have the other creator or a curator take care of this??????

Erica Howton,
In looking at the other project (https://www.geni.com/projects/Young-Male-Shooters/26542 ) , it doesn't look like it is for the victims of a mass shooting. Looks like it is for the accused shooter. As such it needs to have the "intro" modified to reflect this. I will send a message to the creator of the project to that effect.

Yes, the profiles to be added to the Young Male Shooters project could be better described.

There should perhaps be a group, "Dementia" or "Dementias".

Alzheimer's disease is not the only form of dementia.

Three other major forms of dementias are i) vascular dementias, ii) frontotemporal dementias, and iii) Parkinsonian dementias.

Multi-infarct dementia, and Binswanger's are examples of vascular dementias. Semantid dementia and primary progressive aphasia are examples of frontal dementias. Lewy body disease and Pick's disease are both examples of Parkinsonian dementias.

Then there are a number of more or less rare forms of dementias, perhaps unclassified. Prion diseases, such as kuru and mad cow disease also fell into the category of dementias. Nasu-Hakola disease etc. are rare inheritary dementias.

On a related not, anybody interested to join?

https://www.geni.com/projects/So-You-re-on-a-Disease%2521/46648

Mikko Laakso,
There is already a project for Dementia... See: [http://www.geni.com/projects/Senility-Dementia/31510 Senility / Dementia]
It is under Neurological Disorders/Diseases... I'll take a look to see what tags it has... as it may need to be modified.

Thanks for the interests/suggestion. The project you mentioned: So You're on a Disease sounds really interesting!!! Wonder how many & who will be added to this project...
