As much as I want to believe Membertou is directly related to l'Indienne Madeline, She could not be his daughter. It is suggested Membertou claimed to be a grown man when he first met Jacques Cartier, which would mean that he was probably born in the early years of the sixteenth century. There are claims that He was born 1507, died at the age of 104 (died 18 September 1611). Madeline had children around 100 years later.
I'm looking for as much information as possible on her because I am directly related to her from both her female daughters. Half sisters Angélique Giraud-St-Jean (maternal grandmother Morais line) and of Franciose Rousseau (paternal grandmother Mallet line). Madeleine Angelique Indienne MicMac is my Great Grandmother (X 8) and was estimated to be born 1658 which is around 50 years after Membertou died.
Without exact records it's impossible to know but she could very well be a grand daughter of the Membertou tribe.
