I recommend that everyone add their Geni projects to the new Blood & Frogs Encyclopedia of Jewish Genealogy, administered by Private User. See https://bloodandfrogs.com/encyclopedia

The blog introducing the encyclopedia project is at https://bloodandfrogs.com/2016/06/introducing-the-bf-encyclopedia-o...

Thanks Randy. There are currently 104 Geni projects in the encyclopedia, and certainly submit your project if it's not already there. First go to the location in the encyclopedia for your project, i.e. for Chelm go to:

https://bloodandfrogs.com/encyclopedia/poland/lublin/chelm

or for Myanmar go to:

https://bloodandfrogs.com/encyclopedia/myanmar

and check to see if your Geni project is already there (in both of the above cases there are already Geni projects). If it's not, click on the Add a Resource link at the bottom of the page, and fill in the details for your project.

so we have an encyclopaedia. Do we have a faculty yet? with so much interest and so much activity in this field it is high time that someone endows a faculty and chair of genealogy, and especially of Jewish genealogy. It seems to me that we're all amateurs, self taught - though we have our mentors. The subject encompasses Judaism, history, records, names , and so much more. The newest subspeciality appears to be genetics. Why one genetics and the other genealogy I really can't say. Why one astronomy and the other astrology I don't know either. There are plenty more dualisms. I'd appreciate your comments on how to put genealogy on a firm basis as a discipline and profession in equal regard as any other subject taught at unis.

The IIJG has been working to introduce university level courses for Jewish genealogy: http://iijg.org/teaching/

I whole heartedly endorse the B &F encyclopedia of Jewish Genealogy. Phillip has done a superb job and it's hard tedious work.

The full extent of the achievements of the International Institue of Jewish Genealogy are available on the home page links especially those on teaching, standards and past and future projects. See http://iijg.org .

I do not have a "Project", but when looking at the list of towns included in this Encyclopedia I did not see any reference to Brody, which had an important place in Jewish/Polish history.

Thanks. However, shouldn't Brody's Project be linked so that it appears under the towns included in the B&F Encyclopedia of Jewish Genealogy?

Sorry I missed your question about Brody earlier. The answer is that the town-level information is only currently available for towns that are currently in Poland (roughly a thousand towns). It was a massive undertaking with information on over 10,000 resources (each which has it's own page). I just didn't have the time to add towns currently in other countries, although Ukraine would probably be the next country to add if I were to add a second country's towns.
