Erica,

Vivian doesn't give either Richard Coplestone. But perhaps subsequent research has provided proof of their existence. I think I'd leave them.

Mark

Thanks Judi. Done

Hi Judith,

Thank you for the request to make your job even more difficult! I know how much trouble sorting all this must be.

Here are a significant portion of my family (15th century) that has merge issues:
Hans Heini oder Heinrich Huber, VII

John Michell

Sir John Gage, Knight

Lady Margaret Thorpe

Johannes Smythes

Margaret Barnard

Sir Robert Ogle, Kt., MP

Robert Morton, Bishop of Worcester

Sir John Gage, Knight

Robert Browne

His parents are reported as living:
Edmund Swathyng

Grace Fitton

Alan Eppes of Brenzett

John Oliver

Humphrey Stokes

William Sothern

Margaret Watson

William Bennet Goodspeed

one more that slipped through my search:

Nicholas Putnam, of Stewkeley

Hi Joel Putnam - I've sent you an invite to the project - please read over what we're trying to do here.
This Discussion is for Unsourced Duplicate profiles that need to be cut out of the tree before they get merged in.

Geni's sending me to an error page?

Sharon Doubell Hmm, that's where I was sent too, not sure why. Let me see if I can find that duplicate again.

Here are links to two unsourced duplicates of the master profile of Gilbert de Brionne comte d'Eu:, whose link is in my previous post:

gilbert de brionne, comte d'Eu

Gilbert de Brionne

Okay - those I did sort before. Notice that they're not connected to any tree anymore.

It would be more efficient to relay the information contained in this discussion regarding creation of duplicates (in particular, not to do it) BEFORE people delve in and start using this site. Wouldn't it more productive to alert users to this information before duplicate upon duplicate is created?

Simple fix: Alert people with a "START HERE" button, menu, etc. at the TOP of the site (where Home, Tree, Family & Research reside). One page of well written information could slow the duplicate creation.

There are many duplicates around King Richard the Lionhearted I'm working to clean up. In the last 30 days 2 new users have added duplicates and there are older ones as well.

I've tried merging, but the system won't let me, I've tried posting a message here, it went ignored. Perhaps I'm not communicating or doing things the way I should be (or you want me to) ... so, again, one page of well written instruction would really help.

Duplicate 'unknown' wife of Henry II (Curtmantle) ... profile is locked.

NN NN

Tracey, concerning your post one above, we've been trying to convince Mike Stangel of this - but he's a busy man, and has been working on implementing the DNA options and now the Title Field, so we're waiting patiently in line on this one.

Tracey, which post of yours was ignored? If you add or attach the Main Profile to this Discussion - we don't cut it out of the tree. You must add the unsourced Duplicate Profile if you want it dealt with.
Above, the NN wife of Henry is locked by a Curator - so it's keeping a place open for a person she knows existed. Which profile is it duplicating?

Hi Sharon, thank you for letting me that's in the works. That's great!

Henry II already is linked to his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine:

Eleanor d'Aquitaine, Queen Consort of England

His duplicate NN wife:

NN NN

He also has (3) Empress Matilda's as mothers that I can't seem to get fixed either.

Tracy

Henry II had many affairs and illegitimate children, The NN NN profiles are place holders when the actual mother of these children are not known.

I've changed her designation to 'partner' not wife.

I only see one Empress Matilda. It looks like Private User fixed it.

Thanks Kimberly for answering.
