She was the daughter of the 7th Earl according to Stirnet, which is generally a reliable compiler.

Disconnected from Dalkeith.

Scots ladies kept their maiden names, by the way.

I'm glad you posted because I'm confused about Lady Beatrix Stewart

Who is the peerage .com using as source for her? The site is not nearly as good on Scots as on English, and this site has only the Sinclair wife for James the Gross

Can someone look in the Scots Peerage?

Complete Peerage is skeptical sounding of the Stewart wife:

Complete Peerage of England, Scotland, Ireland, Great Britain and ..., Volume 3 edited by George Edward Cokayne. Page 157:

(sigh) can I just merge the Beatrix wives & make a new Stewart? Moving over all those kids will take forever.

The Stewart girl is a mess, she has the 2nd wife's death date & children from 1392.

So need to relocate, they probably belong a generation up

Margaret Douglas

Janet Douglas

Both the ladies above are disconnected & Jason Scott Wills is hereby tagged to see if he can find their correct parents.

The rest of the children have been moved to Beatrix Sinclair of Orkney, and I'm about to change the dates for Beatrice Stewart, TSP reference on her appreciated .

She had no surviving children.

If Beatrice, countess of Douglas, widow of James the Gross, was attained in 1456, I take it she was convicted of treason and the property confiscated ?

https://familysearch.org/wiki/en/Genealogical_Dictionary_of_Legal_T...

Attainder - Conviction of felony or treason whereby the kindred of the attainted could not inherit his estate.
