Dennis,
I know that Geni claims that Henry II "Curtmantle", king of England - King Henry II is my 23rd great grandfather but I do not assume that I have his DNA. I need to see scientific proof and I need to hear comment from others whether a claim without DNA proof that "we are the same DNA" might be an illusion. Dennis I invite you to join the project "Geni as Illusion?" and express your opinions about what you accept as proof in one of the discussions there. See http://www.geni.com/projects/Geni-as-Illusion/30589
I am not sure how much of him is left to DNA. I remember reading somewhere that his grave was disturbed, not once but twice. The last time during events around the French Rev. The prisoners when they excaped dug him up and threw his bones all over the place and they only had a few pieces of him left.
Yes, we are all distant cousins. You, Joseph t Lewis, you are my 16th cousin once removed. Margaret Cruwys is our shortest bloodline grandmother to each other but she doesn't show up in my shortest bloodline to Henry II and probably not in your shortest bloodline to him. We would be cousins to anyone with direct descent from Henry II. How's it going, cuz?
Different bloodline example... Henry II is my 23rd great grandfather through John I "Lackland" being the son of Henry II and his wife, Eleanor d'Aquitaine, Queen Consort of England. Henry Ii is also my 22nd great grandfather through William "Longespée" Longespee, 3rd Earl of Salisbury and Henry II's parner, Ida de Toëny. Fascinatingly, Ida de Toëny was the wife of Roger Le Bigod, 2nd Earl of Norfolk, Surety of the Magna Carta (my 22nd great grandfather through a completely different bloodline), who was part of the Magna Carta (that limited the "King of England's" power) against John I "Lackland, King of England. Trowbridge is my main "American" bloodline to most kings and queens throughout all of Europe.
