Jacques de Savoie, comte de Ramont

In 1483 (in Ath), Jacques of Savoy married his neice, Marie de Luxembourg (1462–1546), granddaughter of Louis of Luxembourg-Saint-Pol, Count of Saint-Pol. They had one child, Françoise Louise of Savoy (1485–1511). She married Henry III of Nassau-Breda but died without issue. No mention of any other children.

this is what we got for now.

Michiel de Savoye they say he cant be the son

http://gw.geneanet.org/dardhen?lang=fr&p=claude&n=de+savoie...
Claude de Savoye

claude is the son of michiel but michel cant be the son and geneanet say hes the son of jacques but he only got one child= a girl

Martin, I cant make an input on your discussion but would like it if one of South Africa`s progenitors Jacques de Savoye, SV/PROG can be discussed when you have sorted out the above.

Martin, "they say he cant be the son"
The only way to truly prove or disprove is to find records for the people mentioned. Somebody else’s research is not always a reliable record.

i agree with you ont this Madam Charmaine, possibly records dont exist anymore we have to rely on sources text or close of what we can find over other web genealogy site

of course they are not prevent of some error
but for the case of
Jacques de Savoie, comte de Ramont

No Mention of this child in any documents... http://en.wikipedia.org(talking of michiel)
/wiki/Jacques_of_Savoy,_Count_of_Romont

Michiel de Savoye

btw so if we cant agree to find a better source we have to find the missing woman wife name for michiel de savoy as for claude wife

orthewise we have to stay with what we got from those writing as sources

Mr Dries Potgieter b1c8d1e5f9g7h4i9

now its time to look and study somthing/ De Savoye is old french for me its sure

before... take note that i think and use this shearch in French (old french) and i know alot where i live we still using this old french :)

its not easy to explain it in english but i give a try
De savoie at this thime was say as De savoy ( to be hear as Savoye french prononced phononetic =savou ѐ its writing is savoy+e

so i got 2 options one its the family name or the second the area where they are from

ok now noble ppl was talking not like today french parisian

old french wording +sound TOY MOY = today french TOI MOI (me you) so for the family De savoy(e) its a good possibility of the noble family not the area just from the writing of the family name in SA

i can be wrong but this is for me old french family name and they keep the old style like a code

now is there an document where i can read the name of

Jacques de Savoye, SV/PROG

or old thing if possible in french(old)?

Marin Thanks for the trouble. Neither have me. JACQUESDE SAVOYE. as above was my 8th great-Grandfather. He came to South Africa as a supposed Huguenot . I always wonder that he who sprang from one such old Royal line https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Savoy gave his daughter in wedding to a slaves son.
I read up on him and will discus the issues direct with the Managers of his profile

After reading about it, I added a missing brother in the start of the Savoy line and an unknown father.
Gerald de Genova

Martin, I have asked the Managers of the profile of our first known progenitor of the HOUSE OF SAVOYE to make a contribution to the discussion.

Angus, can you explain more fully?

6/28/2016 at 1:21 AM

Oh, okay - you're alerting us to the fact that you disconnected Michiel, father of Claude, from the line of Jacques, comte de Ramont, based on the fact that the Wikipedia article says the comte only had one child, a daughter.
Yes, I follow you - that seems fair enough, without documentation for Michiel's parentage.
