I found this posted by the Hungerford Castle for those of interest. Unfortunantly it only dates from 1328 to 1689.

Very nice tree, thank you.

The one thing I noticed is that it shows that Mary Hungerford was the daughter of Walter and Elizabeth, not Alice. It also shows that the died in 1613 and married Thomas Shaa but no children listed. That would make her Edward's full sister, not half.

Do you have a link to the Geni profiles to be moved around?

1/9/2016 at 8:21 PM

Not moved around but updated according to Hungerford Castle.

Robert Hungerford shows born in 1423 rather than 1431.
Robert Hungerford, 3rd Baron Hungerford

Agnes Hungerford hung in 1523 rather than 1522.
Agnes Hungerford

Elizabeth Hussey Hungerford shows to be born in 1510 in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, England rather than in 1528 in Blankney. 22 years would be a very short time to have that many children.

Elizabeth Throckmorton

And then Mary Hungerford shows to be the daughter of Walter and Elizabeth, not Alice, making her Edward's full sister.

Mary Shaa

Mary's profile is managed by my cousin Ann so I choose not to change it with out her knowledge.

Interesting -- there is a respondent on your link with a line that matches mine: Hall --> King --> Carew --> de Courteney --> de Hungerford.

1/9/2016 at 9:05 PM

Which link is that. I also show you to be a 9th cousin on the Tisdale side of my family.

Thank you. Sometimes small details are minor and sometimes others can make a difference in lineage.

I have been researching the Hungerford line and am curious. Walter Hungerford born1532 shows his mother as Elizabeth. She and Walter married in 10/1532. Findagrave shows that Alice was his mother. Is it possible that Walter was born in 02/1532 and Alice died in childbirth making her his mother rather than Elizabeth since she didn't marry until October ?

1/10/2016 at 7:31 PM

Geni's information seems correct other than the possibility of Walter's mother.

1/10/2016 at 7:57 PM

Pamela, we are related through 2 sons of Goodman John King...I used to show him as a descendant of Ralph King, but Geni cut that relationship.

I was referring to your Hungerford Castle link in your 1st post in this thread

1/10/2016 at 8:36 PM

Hi. Yes we are cousins through the Tisdale-King-Hall line. If you have seen my other posts it pays to check dates. Whoever posted this tree from the Hungerford Castle must have not researched it.

Walter and Susan would be the parents of William, Jane and Susan.
Walter and Alice would be the parents of Eleanor and Mary. Walter and Edward are in question. Walter was born in 1532 when Alice died. His father and Elizabeth did not marry until 10/1532. Edward is mentioned in Mary's epitaph but birth year says 1535 so, is birth year incorrect or is he simply the son of Walter and Elizabeth and mentioned for some reason although no other siblings or mother are ? It can be confusing and hard to say without solid documentation.

Yes they are confusing. If you go by the children's birth year, mother's death years and their marriage years then:

Susan would be the mother of William, Jane and Susan.
Alice would be the mother of Eleanor, Mary and possibly Walter since he was born in 1532, she died in 1532 and Elizabeth and Walter didn't marry until 10/1532.
Elizabeth would be the mother of Edward b.1535 and Lucy b. 1550 since she and Walter married in 1532.
Edward's profile shows that he was born in 1535. Alice died in 1532.
So, are their birth years and mother's correct ? And, if Lucy was born in 1550 and Walter died in 1540, who's her father?

Very confusing.

1/11/2016 at 8:21 PM

I believe I found my answer. Lucy Hungerford was not Walter Hungerford's daughter who died in 1540. She was his granddaughter and daughter of his son Walter. In that case her profile needs to be moved.

LUCY HUNGERFORD (1560-1598)Daughter of Sir Walter Hungerford of Farleigh Castle, Somersetshire (c.1526-1596) and Anne Dormer (1525-1603). EXCERPT:'When she was ten, her father sued her mother for divorce, claiming she had committed adultery with a neighbor and tried to poison him. Lady Hungerford was separated from her children and eventually went into exile in Flanders with other English Catholics. In about 1584, Lucy married John St. John of Lydiard Tregoze, Wiltshire (c.1552-1594).'

1/11/2016 at 8:31 PM

I cannot find where Walter d. 1540 had a daughter named Lucy. Am I missing something ?

1/11/2016 at 8:47 PM

I think the Geni tree agrees with you, Pamela

Lucy Hungerford

Hal Bradley has a long list of sources
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hwbradley/aqwg168...

And lots of poisoning accusations in the lives & wives of both Sir Walter l "executed" 1540 & his son Walter ll d 1596

https://books.google.com/books?id=SG3Qj9FsaHMC&lpg=PA260&ot...

1/12/2016 at 4:59 AM

Then I am thinking that Lucy Hungerford needs to be removed from Walter's d. 1540 profile ?
