When it comes to planned enhancements for Geni, I'd like an option to lock specific profiles *out* of my relationship path. Henry I is supposed to be my 27th GGF, but there's a link that's extremely suspect and I can't get around it.

Hello everyone!

Henry I, King of France is my 29th great grandfather
Charlemagne (Karl den store) is my 34th great grandfather
Robert IV "the Strong", Margrave of Neustria is your 31st great grandfather.

It's almost scary this, one after another seems to be one of my ancestors, I knew from some information in the past that it is was quite likely, I seems that I have a pedigree that is getting quite heavy to carry, but perhaps I should be proud, if this continue. Even if some of it this turn out to be not completely correct, and things could turn up, if I get a test, to see who I am really related to, it's interesting to read an learn about history and genealogy.
Greetings from Norway

Øystein: call it "successful progenitor syndrome". You only hear about the ancestors who were very successful in having identifiable progeny, not about the many Joes and Janes who had just a few obscure descendants.

With each generation you have twice as many (theoretical) ancestors, and it doesn't take too many iterations before you exceed the total number of persons living in that time period. So, if you hit *one* Successful Progenitor, you're likely to hit a bunch of them.

King Henry I, king of France; is my 25th and 26th Great grandfather.
Through my dad's side, he is my 25th Great grandfather going back through Henry's son, Hugues Manus, Comte de Vermandois.
King Henry I, king of France; is my 26th Great grandfather on my mother's side going back through Henry's son, King Philip I, and then through King Louis VI, "The Fat".
Charlemagne is my 33rd Great grandfather on my mother's side through Charlemagne's son Louis I, "The Pious", and then through Louis's son, Emperor Lothair I.
Charlemagne is my 32 Great grandfather on my dad's side through Charlemagne's son Louis I, "The Pious", and then through Louis's daughter Adelaide.

Geni says King Henry I, is my 27th Great-grandfather by blood. We are also traced back to Harald I "Fairhair", king of Norway as well as the Rambo line of New Sweden royalty in the "new world". I guess if you go back far enough we all become related?
