I don't think the one in Metz is identical to the son of Naftali Hirz. That one married Elle, daughter of Mosche Cannstadt of Mainz (d. 1729). Their son Hirz Naftali moved to Lorsch and founded the MAINZER family there. See Berthold Rosenthal's ancestry of the MAINZERs in his collection at LBI (under FULDA). His sources include the Memor-books of Mainz and Lorsch, among many others.

Hmm. Then that makes some sense out of the note by Eve Cohen. Must be two of them. I'll try to separate them.
