I think that Remi deleting the whole paragraph was wrong but can agree that it probably needed re-writing to make it more understandable as there are lots of non-English speakers on Geni.

Or are you meaning the Project overall?

Originally you complained that half the project page had been deleted. I'm wondering if that is still a concern for you, or whether you are more focused on some other aspect of the project.

The deleted text would be useful for Geni users just starting to learn about Ragnar so it is disappointing to see it deleted.

But it is more than that, from my memory the reason for starting this Project was to have this information about the conflicting sources in one central place so that it did not have to be reproduced in every profile of Ragnar's family. So now the family members have a hyperlink to a Geni Project which has a hyperlink to a different website which doesn't have the text that was deleted either!

The Geni project also used to have a section about the Raven banner, though i didn't think it was particularly relevant as it seems to be a later fiction / guess to associate it with Ragnar, at any rate it has also been deleted and is now presented at http://ragnar-lodbrog-and-his-legend.webnode.nl/raven-banner/

Ok I try again to explain what happend with this project and what made me angry. 2 big issues next to some minor ones.
Some time back a whole section of the project went missing. I restored and had Dimitri fix up the the look again.
Then here some days ago. It might not show on your revision tab, but someone had removed all the sources to Ragnar listed. A pretty importend part of the protect. That is what tipt the tied for me.

Ofcause I have a copy of the original as it started, but thats not the point!

Hitting the deletebutton is not the nices think to do to a project and most definately not when its such an importent part of the project.

Granded it did not help my mood that the very same day I had to make a great cleanup around the Ragnar profile as well, but it was the deleting part that got me angry and the reason for my decision.

I must add also that I find it slightly strange how people keep on pondering about typos. Since they have had edit right. Why havent they changend them then????

I dont think you took part in the dicision of making this project or the layout or what it was supposed to contain or does contain. I can not recall you being part of that bit.!
So your memory is messed up on this point. That was and is not necessary the point of Ragnars project. You might have assumed that, but then you should have made a project that did that!

And since you do want the many sources in one place then someone deleting it. How is that helpful?

I have more that I would have liked to add to the Ragnar project, so that people could learn about the figure in the sagas, but have been more buissy keeping an eye on people and their doings with the project!

So as it is now it stays were it is. Untill I get a satisfactuary solution too the problem!

What is a satisfactory solution? A project hosted on an external server is not a Geni project.

If this had happened to one of my projects, I'd revert and yell (as you have done). I'd put up a sign on the top of the page. And I would open an enhancement request with Geni for an ability to "field lock" a project page.

I would not remove the Geni project from the Geni members.

Well then we will have to take it to Geni to make it happend, because more deliting of that kind is not good.

The definition of a Geni project is merely a guideline, I'm afraid. There is no such thing as the Geni way of making projects. There are only suggestions on how to make them.

There is no dictate anywhere on that department. Technically projects are designed in a certain way, but Geni will not tell you how you MUST work with these projects LOL.

There is an existing mechanism for enhancement requests to Geni functionality, one that creates visibility and consensus to Geni's development teams, and to Geni members as well. So it's helpful to use that workflow when identifying an a part of the application that can stand improvement, with a suggestion of "how, exactly."

The help platform could use enhancement. :).

A "submit a request" button generates a private ticket between you and customer support, which is not what we're looking for. And there is a "thumb's up" ability for other curators to express support for a platform enhancement suggestion.

SInce I'm critisized for removing text from the project, I can tell you why.

The text was: "This is the story of the saga behind Ragnar Lodbrog who undeniably existed and is very possible to find the real Ragnar behind the adventures told about him!======"

.... who undeniably existed ... is not correct, there are very much doubts about him ever existing.

... is very possible to find the real Ragnar behind the adventures told about him! ..... is also wrong, it is with todays sources not possible to to find the real Ragnar, since there probably never existed any real Ragnar, just stories (not history) of people with names that could be interpreted to be Ragnar, and they are telling so different stories, that it is impossible that they can only be about just one person.

So, since the claim was plain false, I removed it. There are no proof of Ragnar's undeniable existence, and there are no way to find any real Ragnar since the stories are composed of several Ragnars.

So, please, when making projects about persons, stick to the facts, and don't try to add wishful thinking or maybees without clearly marking them as such. This sentence looked like a fact and made Ragnar to become a historical person which there are no proof of.

I did use the link that you posted here. Maybee you can be more specific on how to do it more public. Also so that support could be generated for the ideer.
I also suggested that it was made possible to make a curator note much like on the profile. That could be useful at times I think!

It was not him that altered the project or delited importend part. That caused me to react as i did.

Justin, I know a lot more was removed, but what I wrote was my part of it. As both you and Anette knows, I don't fancy our common tree showing more than what the historical facts or what is deducted from historical facts, to be links between persons/profiles in the World Family Tree (WFT), the reason being that my fellow professional genealogists are pounding my back about all the links on Geni which there are only theories about and no facts, and plainly speaking, I agree with them.

Working theories (or other theories) doesn't belong as links between people/profiles, but should instead be mentioned as theories in the profiles About me. That would make Geni more digestable for the genealogists and make our common tree and WFT more trustworthy.
