This is the genealogy of Henry, based on

History of the Kimball Family in America, 1634-1897"; by Leonard Allison Morrison and Stephen Paschall Sharples; 1:18; Damrell & Upham; Boston, Massachusetts; 1897. Pages 17-18

https://archive.org/stream/historyofkimball00morr#page/17/mode/1up

It's pretty simple:

Henry Kemball of Watertown, Born about 1590 in Essex county, England; died 1648 in Watertown, MA. Perhaps the son of Richard Kemball of Lawford, wheelwright, died 1619, & his wife Elizabeth

Married Susan Stone of Mistley, Essex, England on Nov 27, 1628, widow of Richard Cutting. She married 3rd to one Loe or Lowe.

Children:
1) Elizabeth, married Thomas Straight;
2) Susannah, married John Randall;
3) John, married Hannah Bartlett

Hatte Blejer unfortunately all kinds of other people are attached. I think the easiest thing to do is just list here the profiles I disconnect.

Henry Kimball IV disconnected as father

Joanna Kimball disconnected as mother

Elizabeth KIMBALL Disconnected as wife

Margaret Kimball disconnected as wife

Sarah Stewart disconnected as child

Mary Bixby disconnected as child

Richard Kimball disconnected as child

(According to Kimballs in America, Savage assigned to Henry 3 children who actually belonged to Henry and Mary (Wyatt) Kimball of Wenham)

Here's the other Henry Kimball

Henry Kimball, of Rattlesden & Wenham

And they both emigrated on the same ship.

Apparently not related at all.

Carole (Erickson) Pomeroy,Vol. Curator this is your sourcing, I believe

Hannah Kendall, of Woburn

Unfortunately those are not her parents. The Hannah who was the daughter of Ens. Thomas Bartlett & born 1642 in Watertown was the wife of John Kemball

I think the Kendall family association mixed up a Kemball record.

Anyway Vital Records is very clear :

http://MA-VitalRecords.org/MA/Middlesex/Watertown/aDeathsK.shtml
Hannah [Kemball] (Bartlitt), w. John, Nov. 22, 1715

I've disconnected John Kendall's wife from parents & added a curator note

10/5/2015 at 1:45 AM

Anne Bartlett is not a known wife of Ens. Thomas Bartlett

Since her son is a Thomas Sr I am guessing her Bartlett husband had a different forename, but I will leave it to anyone pursuing Maryland Bartlett's to further ...

10/5/2015 at 1:24 PM

apparently Margaret Kimball belongs as wife of Richard Kimball, of Rattlesden & Ipswich

Done.

And .... according to the Great Migration project, as quoted here:

http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=linda...

Henry Kimball was the brother of RICHARD KIMBALL {1634, Watertown}

Did Hannah Barlett get mis-merged with a Hannah Bartlett? I had no parents for Hannah Barlett, wife of John Kendall.

Thank you for Erica
I think you meant this link for the marriage

Yes, just in case I needed to prove that they were not the same Hannah Bartlett. The daughter of Thomas was born, married, and died in Watertown. The one whose parents I do not know was married & died in Woburn, which is not all that close to Watertown, in 17th century terms, anyway (10 miles; out of church attending range). So Hannah (Bartlett) Kendall could be sought for among the closer towns ... If there is in fact evidence to support the Bartlett maiden name.

10/5/2015 at 9:14 PM

Carole - it's not a Mis merge. It's bad genealogy from the Kendall family records.

10/5/2015 at 9:38 PM

Also - in re reading the profile notes for Hannah Kendall, it could be that Savage messed up. He was truly great, but he also had some doozie errors. Pope is far more reliable.

10/6/2015 at 12:23 AM

When I uploaded my GED it was Hannah Barlett 1st wife of John Kendall son of Francis Kendall, not with a husband John Kemball so they must of been mis-merged at some point.

As you say the Hannah Kendall, of Woburn who probably died in Woburn. It does not seem a mistake from the Kendall Family in America as it does not say when or where she died, saying he married his 2d 29 March, 1681, or her parents names.

And The history of Woburn, Middlesex County, Mass. which lists her having a father Thomas.

Or should we consider this wrong and remove Hannah Kendall, of Woburn as a wife of John Kendall

I agree the information is probably wrong for her Parents, birth & death on http://www.genealogyofnewengland.com/f_14f.htm#3 along with John Kendall's death. Not to say that she did not have a father Thomas, but not Thomas & Hannah Bartlett from Watertown.

"NewEnglandKendalls.com" seems to have just her birth incorrect

10/6/2015 at 1:04 AM

Carole - John Kendall had a wife, so she can't be removed. :). She is currently parentless, and her Thomas Bartlett of Watertown father is disproved; but that doesn't mean she wasn't the daughter of a different Thomas Bartlett. Anyway - have you checked vital records of Woburn yet?

http://ma-vitalrecords.org/MA/Middlesex/Woburn/

10/6/2015 at 1:19 AM

She's not in VR, but she is in the NEHGR

https://books.google.com/books?id=e6UyAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA18&lpg=...

The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, Volume 39. Page 17-18. Supplement to Sewall's History of Woburn.

It's Hannah Bartlett with no parents noted.

So you're sourced as best you can. Don't change names, in my opinion you should add field locked "unknown parent" profiles because of the other Hannah, and the husband names being so similar.

10/6/2015 at 1:25 AM

And BTW New England Marriages Prior to 1700 By Clarence Almon Torrey page 433 has ? For Kendall's 1st wife (of 3).

10/6/2015 at 11:23 AM

No luck finding anything for Hannah Barlett/Bartlett, not even a Thomas in the Woburn records, barely anything for John Kendall, no death listing for him, or Eunice.

10/6/2015 at 1:22 PM

There was a note I saw somewhere that had John Kemball "brother in law" to John Kendall. You could look more into the Thomas Bartlett family; he was a founder of Watertown.

10/6/2015 at 2:51 PM

Hello Erica. I am late to this conversation so if the info provided below you already know please forgive. Thomas bartlett of Watertown is listed in "The Great Migration Begins". His wife was named Hannah and their first daughter was named Hannah but died at age two. As is often the case, their third daughter was also named Hannah. This Hannah's entry is "born 6 August 1642; married Watertown 19 January 1667/8 John Kimball." The source given is Section three of Watertown Records Comprising the First and Second Books of Town Proceedings.

10/6/2015 at 2:53 PM

Sorry should be John Kemball who married Hannah Bartlett.

10/6/2015 at 3:26 PM

I was just looking at Ens. Thomas Bartlett's family in

Genealogies of the families and descendants of the early settlers of Watertown, Massachusetts, including Waltham and Weston : to which is appended the early history of the town. by Bond, Henry, 1790-1859; Jones, Horatio Gates, 1822-1893 Published 1860. Page 18-19

https://archive.org/stream/genealogiesoffam00bond#page/18/mode/2up

No missing daughters then who could have married John Kendall.

The Henry Kemball family is on page 323 with an erroneous extra son Richard & the disproven "probably an older brother of Richard Kimball"

https://archive.org/stream/genealogiesoffam00bond#page/323/mode/1up

John married Hannah Bartlett (and cross referenced to the Thomas Bartlett family, useful)

Erica
Why do you say erroneous extra son Richard? His name is listed as Richard Cutting, would he not be a son of his wife Susanna & her husband Richard Cutting?

10/6/2015 at 11:49 PM

There is in some lists Richard KEMBALL attributed to the Henry & Susannah family, both as brother & also as son. Richard Cutting doesn't seem to confuse anyone,

Sorry Erica,
I see also that Henry & Susanna have a son Richard b. 1643 listed on page 323, I overlooked it before.
