Hey cousins--

I have added four images of Thomas Boleyn's funeral brass in St. Peter's Church, Hever, Kent. That brass may be the only existing image of Thomas Boleyn.

The painting usually presented as a portrait of Thomas Boleyn is now thought to portray his first cousin, James Butler, the 9th Earl of Ormond.

I don't know whom to credit with these images, but this is where I found each of them. The first one would be my pick. It's easier to see detail in the brass rubbing than photos of the brass itself.

Hi Amy,
I have a huge brass copy of Thomas Boleyn, almost lifesize. My mom bought it (amongst others) years ago in England on an auction. It is beautiful and well preserved an my daughter-in-law once made a brass-rubbing from it which she had framed. I would gladly have a photo of the brass put on Geni but unfortunately I have trouble downloading photo's onto Geni.

Hi Esther!

It took me a long time to figure out how to do it, and I admit, obscenities were uttered in the process. I already had Picasa on my computer, needed to install a "Geni button," then figure out what folder to upload the images to...I can't believe I muddled through it at all.

Might be easier to email me a photo to upload (crediting you as the source and including anything that might be good to know about the brass copy).

I can't believe I hadn't seen that brass before yesterday. Given what we know about the James Butler painting, I'd have thought researchers would be keen to find an authentic image of Thomas Boleyn. It really is a lovely, detailed brass!

p.s. Geni is showing us a cousin relationship via the House of Stewart, but I am skeptical of the alleged connection through my Robertsons. I haven't seen any documentation to support it.
