For the second time of which I'm aware, William Weeks (b. c1625/30 Staines, Middlesex; d. c1685/90 Edgartown, MA) has been mistakenly merged with William Weekes/Weeks (b. c1625/30 Salcombe Regis, Devon; d. Dec 13, 1677 Dorchester, MA). Some time ago I had tried to find a connection between the Atweecke/Weckes/Weeks family of Middlesex (which appears to have originated as the Atweecke family of Suffolk) and the Weekes family of Devon, but I found none. As far as I can tell, William from Staines is a probable son or nephew of John Wickes, while William from Salcombe Regis is a son of George Weeks by Jane Humphrey. Can we roll back the latest bad merge, then prevent users from performing it again in the future?
Also, it seems to me that Mary Weeks was the wife of William from Staines, and not the wife of William from Salcombe Regis.

George Weeks is an MP already, looking at his About there is a very bold statement that he is NOT the son of Simon Weeks.
So it is almost unnecessary to say that he is linked on Geni as the son of Simon Weeks!
Hatte Blejer (absent until Nov 1):
- William's profile was MP'ed before this latest bad merge (and maybe before the previous bad merge as well).
- Private User, the profile's curator, had already added a note!
These bad merges of William are frustrating me as much as bad parent assignments for Robert White, of Messing are frustrating Private User! (See http://www.geni.com/discussions/146310 for details.)
I think you are going to continue to get these profiles incorrectly merged until all of the facts and relationships are correct on both profiles and all the other William Weeks c 1630 are either found and merged once and for all or they are made into MP's themselves. Just depending on a birth place in England and a spouse is not adequate to prevents merges when all the other facts are wrong or lacking or not clear.
Let's call them William of Dorcester and William of Edgartown.
For example on this MP:
This William Weeks MP has the birth place of of William of Edgartown but the death date/place, burial place and parents of William of Edgartown. So who is he? No one can tell because the facts are a mix of two different men. Let’s turn him into William Weeks of Edgartown.
This would be my suggestions:
1) Nickname him William Weeks of Edgartown
2) Change death date and place and burial to 03 Aug 1689 in Edgartown, Dukes, Massachusetts in the profile.
3) Remove George and Jane Clapp as his parents. Attach Robert and Sarah as his parents. note you say John but the biography claims Robert and Robert is what I see on Ancestry – does this need researched? I think we all know for sure it is not George.
4) In the bio start with a single clear statement of facts i.e. all of the above right at the top before all the detailed information below i.e birth/date dates and places parents, spouse and children.
5) Make sure all the children are correct with the proper birth locations
For this profile:
1) Add an actual place of birth and date
2) Add an actual place of death and date.
3) Under nickname call him William Weeks of Dorcester
4) Elevate him to an MP
5) Attach him to parents: George and Jane Clapp.
6) ) In the bio start with a single clear statement of facts i.e. all of the above right at the top before all the detailed information below.
7) Make sure all the children are correct with the proper birth locations
ID these misc profiles and either merge them proactively now or if not the same elevate them to MPs also:
