Anyone else surprised he does not have a lick of Southern in his tree?

George H. W. Bush, 41st President of the USA is your husband's third great aunt's husband's third cousin five times removed's husband.

And, no, not if you follow where they originated from.

George H. W. Bush is my 16th cousin once removed.
Not surprised about his roots; apparently, he and Barbara only moved to Texas, because of the oil business.

Actually, that is not accurate. My wife is much more closely related to him than I, but I am related to him and I am very southern. My wife's relatives on her father's side were from the mid-west, and they are more closely related.

George H.W. Bush is my 10th cousin 2x removed and i am very surprised i always thought they were from the deep south

I just looked at their tree.. definitely not from the deep south. you can look at my tree for comparison. haha

vance, if it is not accurate you have a lot of work to do on his tree. since nothing points to having southern roots.

Hi! Ive just found out that you are 18th cousin 2 times removed!

george h w bush is my 16th cousin!!! No im not surprised he has no southern root!!

Here is our connection: William ‘the settler’ Arnold

George H. W. Bush, 41st President of the USA William Arnold's 10th great grandson!

William Arnold is my 9th great grandfather.

Actually there are a few southerners; George W. Bush, 43rd President of the United States is my 13th cousin once removed.

I am more closely related to Queen Elizabeth than to George Bush.

8th cousin 1x for me; same as my relation to QEII

I am more closely related to Sir Winston Churchill than George Bush.

Churchhill is my 11th cousin, haha

George H. W. Bush, 41st President of the USA is Afonso I the Conqueror, King of Portugal's 22nd great grandson!

Having no southern roots is probably accurate. Being a southerner and being related are inconsequential. Our family in America did not begin in the south. They migrated toward the south late into their settlement in this country. My wife's closer relationshop to the Bushes occurs through her father, whose people migrated from the NE U.S to the midwes.

Private User Your 2015 comment that George HW Bush is Afonso I's 22nd great grandson is a fascinating fun tidbit of history. Thanks for sharing this!
