Keeping with the Annette theme, Annette Weiss also has us backed into a corner. Anyone with Polish heritage research experience might be able to break through and get her a connection. Any and all help appreciated!

Unknown Profile or Unknown Profile,

Can you be of any help here?

Kevin

Hi guys,

I'd love that but as far as I can see, the lines are Polish-Jewish rather than Polish. I don't have much experience with the Jewish lines in our area - however I'll look around and try to find out something. :)

Best wishes,

KW

Hello Everybody
To find the family connection, Annette Weiss must log in to http://www.jewishgen.org/
There are many millions of records in this database. I checked quickly and have found more than 15.000 records for Weiss name in Poland.
Fortunately, they are geographically separated. From the information in the Annette grandfather and grandmother profiles we know the were born Jeżów at Brzeziny County. This is in the region of Łódź and Piotrków. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Je%C5%BC%C3%B3w,_Brzeziny_County
Annette should check these data carefully and there good chances to find the family.
With my best wishes.
Andrzej Hennel

Thank you all, especially Andrzej ... I am a member of JewishGen and do go on their website from time to time to search

I may be able to help with Annette Weiss, the information that Unknown Profile provided is excellent. Weiss is a common name so if we know the town and grandparents' names, we may be able to do more.

Hatte ... I think you're onto something!

According to my father and my aunt, Mordka (my grandfather) was one of 4 brothers born to Moszek and Estera Malka. The other 3 brothers were Jude (Yehuda), who I think you reference above, and Mendel, and Yarman (perhaps Jeremiah).

I do not recognize the names Synaj, Rywka, and Fajga, but if they died very young, my grandfather Mordka may not have known about them ... he never mentioned them to anyone in our family as far as I know.

Another question for you ... can you find Estera Malka's maiden name??

Thank you so much for your help so far!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, Annette! I wanted so much to see your tree attached!

Okay then we have your grandfather Mordechai (Mordka) born in Jezow in 1880 to Moshe (Moszek) and Esther (Estera Malka). I'm not sure of the meaning of the dates as I don't deal with records from this part of Poland, but someone else can help with that.

Sinai (Synaj) was born in 1877 but died in 1878. Rebecca (Rivka / Rywka) was born in 1879. Faiga (usually Fannie) was born in 1879 but not sure of her parents. And Judah (Jude) was born in 1873 -- he's your Yehudah.

I can look for Mendel and "Yarman". Yarman might be named for uncle "Erma" who is in the other set of data above. I think these are related families from a small town who name their children after the same ancestors. I could be wrong however. I have not encountered Erma before but I bet you are correct and it's Yeramiahu (Jeremiah).

I'll work on finding more information about this Wajs family and about the family of Estera Malka. Some jurisdictions recorded maiden names and
some did not.

I'll also work on the other, probably related family.

Thank you so much Hatte!
