It's official. The Global Family Reunion will be on the Dr. Oz Show.
Our episode tapes October 29. But they're doing a pre-taped segment as well, probably on Friday.
I see that there's a Mehmet Oz on Geni, but he's not connected to the Big Tree.
Any way we could get him to be a MP and connect him?
As always, I am extremely grateful!
AJ

If this is of any help, his wife's 152 member tree is on Geni.

Lisa Oz (born Lisa Lemole[1] on July 20, 1963) is an American producer,
writer, actress, and frequent co-host of The Dr. Oz Show on the Oprah and Friends XM radio telecasts.

Lisa Lemole was born in Philadelphia in 1963, to Gerald and Emily Jane Lemole. Her father was a surgeon who was on the team that performed the first heart transplant in America in 1968 with doctors Michael E. DeBakey and Denton Cooley at The Texas Heart Institute.

Mehmet Cengiz Oz was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 11, 1960, to Suna and Mustafa Öz, who had emigrated from Konya Province, Turkey.

Mustafa Öz was born in Bozkır, a small town in central Turkey. Mustafa Öz earned scholarships that allowed him to emigrate to the United States as a medical resident in 1955. Suna Öz (née Atabay), who comes from a wealthy İstanbul family, is the daughter of a pharmacist with Shapsug

More background, however we still need to find a Big Tree connection.

Mehmet's father -- the original Dr. Oz -- is Mustafa Oz. He was born in Bozkir, Turkey, a small town in the Konya Province of central Turkey, near the Taurus Mountains, a very rough-and-tumble place.

Mustafa does not know his own birthdate, but believes it was sometime in October 1925. We could not verify the date because there are no records of his birth or that of any of his siblings. Indeed, the Konya Province produced almost no written records in this era.

Mustafa was one of a dozen children, half of whom died in childhood. His early years were almost unimaginably harsh. "My father had been born into abject poverty," said Mehmet. "I'm talking about the kind of poverty where you're not worried about passing clothes down, but you're worried about food. And that's the kind of poverty you don't forget too readily.

They had to make tremendous sacrifices to survive. My father grew up knowing that the only prayer he had to succeed was to outwork everybody else. It has colored every aspect of his life. It's one of the reasons he can't retire even now, at age eighty-five."

Though Mustafa's parents were uneducated farmers, they were determined that their children would lead better lives, and they correctly perceived that education was the means to this end." . . . continued.

I went ahead and approved the merge of A.J.'s profile with the one connected to the world tree.

I recall doing research on this in the past, as I thought it was brought up a while ago when he first expressed interest in the Reunion. But I can't find that discussion or research.

This looks like it has some information, but the web translators are not doing a sufficient enough job with the turkish for me to understand it. http://www.jinepsgazetesi.com/-11655.html

Mehmet Oz's sister?
Seval Fatima Oz, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Mustafa Oz of Wilmington, Del., and Istanbul. The bride's father, who is retired, was the chief of cardiothoracic surgery at the Wilmington Medical Center. Her mother, Suna Atabay Oz, is a director of the Atabay Pharmaceuticals and Chemical Company in Istanbul, which was founded by the bride's maternal grandfather, the late "Kemal Oz."

That looks correct, but I wonder if it meant to say paternal grandfather or Kemal Atabay. I'm not that familiar with turkish last names, but it seems odd.

DNA Testing of Mehmet Oz - Genetic indicates evidence exactly the same as of Russian and German Jewish ancestry.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGTUfFb73uA

. . . The video opens  with Mike Nichols, a Jewish movie director with Russian and German ancestors finding out he has the Cohen gene and that he matches with Dr. Mehmet Oz, a Muslim American surgeon with Turkish ancestors.

Dr. Oz, when interviewed told how he was surprised at this finding and that it shows how we are so similar with the difference only in how we think about things.

. . . "Dr Oz is related to Mike Nichols, the director. Watch the video. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGTUfFb73uA&feature=related

. . . "More likely, Dr Oz is descended from Turkish Jews who converted to Islam, possibly even members of the Donmeh.

Unknown Profile Good catch, absolutely it should be Kemal Atabay. Perhaps this maternal side is where the Russian/German DNA comes in.

Children: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daphne_Oz

Daphne Nur Oz (born February 17, 1986) is an author and television host.
Oz, the eldest child of Mehmet Oz and Lisa Oz, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. She has three siblings named Arabella, Zoe and Oliver.

On August 28, 2010, Oz married John Jovanovic, an investment fund analyst, whom she met in college.[5] On February 26, 2014 Oz gave birth to a daughter, named Philomena "Philo" Bijou Jovanovic.

Daphne Oz's father Mehmet Oz described the baby as being a blue-eyed Circassian beauty, just like her mother.

Daphne Oz's paternal grandmother Suna Öz (née Atabay) was Turkish and had some Shapsug descent from her maternal great-grandparents. Suna's husband Mustafa Öz was Turkish.

Wow! Thank you guys. This is beyond great. The folks at Dr. Oz -- and the doctor himself -- will be overjoyed. I can't wait to reveal it to him.
And fascinating -- I had to look up Shapsug, so thank you for teaching me that. Unknown Profile Unknown Profile @Jeff Gentes, @Gee Mallory Cannon

On the celebrity family tree, a Jewish film director has been revealed as the missing link among Albert Einstein, Meryl Streep and TV’s Dr. Mehmet Oz.

For Nichols, born in Berlin in 1931 as Michael Igor Peschkowsky, those discoveries both confirm old family legends and turn up new information. In a vindication of the filmmaker’s mother, genealogical records show that Nichols’s great-grandfather was indeed a second cousin to Einstein — a claim the filmmaker says he’d long dismissed as family lore.
