How do I copy a photo from one person's tree to another. I am trying to get a DAR profile photo on my ancestor John Wheeler without having to upload another photo to Geni. I just cannot figure out how to do this!
View the photo in the media/photos section of the profile it is attached to now, and you will see that you can edit the list of people the photo is for. You can also individually identify people on the photo. The safest way to add people to a photo or document is by using the profile-id, or at lest visit the target profile first to get it on the sort-list for tagging.
Private User I am looking at the photo in another ancestor's profile. I clicked on it and the only option I have is to add photos. On the other side. I can click FULL SIZE or SET PROFILE PHOTO. Nothing says I can edit the list. The photo originated from the album of Private and is attached to a bunch of people and projects, but I cannot edit it to add my ancestor.
Christine - post a public profile where the image already is, & I'll give a try to also adding it to John Wheeler
Looks like success by Jim Wile! :)
What I usually do to add the DAR logo to a Patriot is
- click on http://www.geni.com/projects/Daughters-of-the-American-Revolution-P... (photos & documents in the Project DAR Patriots)
- click on the Patriot image in the center; then I see
William Holloway, Joseph Embry, William Holeman, Jonathan Jenckes, Jr., Rev. Amos Jenks, Capt. Henry Loker, Joseph Clarke, John Chaplin, III, James Meredith, Jr., Francis Kidder, Jr., John Kidder, Thomas Beede, Ephraim Pelton, Isabella Adams Furman (de Windt), Jacob Sessums, John Connabell (Cunnabell), Lieut. Increase Robinson, Ezra Shattuck, Capt. Daniel Hubbard, Daniel Long, Richard Littlefield, Maj. John Hastings, John Redman, Sherwood Sims, Sherrod Sims, Richard Wright, Sr., Jonas Menefee, of Bromfield Parish, Henry Menefee, Reuben Saunders, Mary Randolph Ball [edit]
- press the edit button to open the "tag" box
- type the profile until it comes up
- save & close

I still don't have the edit button that you have Erica Howton.
I am trying to add the photo to Elijah White
Christine - I think in this case because you dont collaborate with the managers. So I added him to the DAR project where you do (now) collaborate, and my bet is you'll have the edit button. Try again?
For the future you can use the discussion tool in that project requesting a profile be added to it, and a curator can do so if a manager doesn't respond.
Erica Howton I still don't have the edit button next to Mary Randolph Ball. It just ends with her. No edit option.
Erica Howton Thanks for the photo. The DunhamWilcox site shows the following regarding parents (below). I have not researched this line as it is line by marriage.
Elijah White, son of John and Thankful (Goss) White, was b. Brookfield 8-15-1750, d. Mid. 1-29-1827, m. abt. 1773, Beulah WALKER. He was a soldier in the Rev. War. He is probably the man of that name who was living in Murrayfield as early as 1774. By 1787 he had moved to Mid. where his farm was on lot 39, II Div. Chester. His house was probably somewhere east of the road near the house built by Samuel H. Little (where Elbert Pease and Mr. Dinsmore have lived in recent years), in which mr. White lived in his last years.
Children:
Joel, b. 12-25-1774.
Luther, b. 4-18-1779. Joined Mid. Cong. church in 1802, was granted letter of dismission to Swanton, Vt. 2-2-1806.
Elijah, b. 4-2-1781, prob. the Elijah White of Chester, who m. (1st) 6-16-1798, Jane WHITE of Shelburn.

Submit, b. Mid. 5-11-1786, m. 6-2-1814, Samuel H. LITTLE.
Beulah, b. 7-20-1789, m. 10-3-1821, Henry WARNER.

Great work finding / uniting our cousin Patriot to the rest of his family.
I hate to see orphans.

Need help splitting this tree, the correct parents are
Ingrid Halstensdotter (Båt) & Tyrgils Bagge av Botorp
It would be good if people only would use some minimal kind of common sense before they get the lust for this sort of bad merging, I really tried to see the logic behind, but couldn't.
Ulf: I initiated unmerges on the most recent 2 merges (the names seem to indicate they were both incorrect):
... The resulting unmerged profiles are:
Peter Tyrgilsson Bagge, av Botorp
Peder Nilsson, till Berga (Bagge af Berga)
Peter Tyrgilsson Bagge, av Botorp
Thanks, I merged som duplicates rest over, but this man
Peder Nilsson, till Berga (Bagge af Berga)
still shows up as the father of,
Karin Petersdotter Bagge, av Botorp
so he needs to be cutted of, then everything should be ok.
