Note that François Gagné is now married to two sisters with partially similar names but different birth/death dates: Marie-Anne-Françoise Gagné and Marie-Anne-Françoise Gagné.

In the tree I see James William Metcalfe with his father James Metcalfe.

In the profile page, the fathr is not shown in the immediate family list - probably because the profile manager removed it (the list is editable).

Why disconnect? He is not the father?

It must be because you are a curator. I cannot see his father on the tree or in his profile. I cannot edit his parents. All I want to do is to see the father and edit him.

Can a non-curator see his father, please?

If it can't be deleted, it looks like another one for Mike.

I have a slight problem , this profile

i have looked and looked at the data.. am i seeing correctly? my Walker is in tasmania at the time did he catch a boat quickly over to england or was she conceived before he left?, are they indeed related, i can not wrap my head around this one, please help :) i have contacted owner various times but no answer, to discuss it.

Her husbands parents have gotten attached to her by mistake and need to be unmerged. Will that fix the problem?

If i request to join a Profile, and it is a relation is it Unreasonable to grant my request? when i see others have joined as well?, i love to keep tabs on them and i also get to see who else is related.

What can one do when a Curator is a bit rude and arrogant?

Angelina - profile managers and curators are different. Only a profile manager can add another; I curate many profiles I do not manage (and vice versa).

On those mega manager historic profiles some people will say "follow" or collaborate with other profile managers; we all have edit rights anyway. I'm probably more like you - I would want to help maintain the profile, and improve it by detailing the overview, doing merges, adding documentation and images, etc.

Escalation procedure on curators is to Geni customer support.

A very messy nexus amongst the de Cliffords. I'm pretty sure I contributed to the mess, alas.

One place to start is with Isabella FitzPayn (de Clifford) -- amongst the MANY Isabella de Cliffords.

Her correct husband is Sir Robert, 1st Lord FitzPayn

Can we unmerge the others? Then I'll start further untangling.

Great! I thought it looked pretty good when the merge was undone. I am so happy that they developed the undo-merge-script because each of us get involved in a merge "gone bad".

Yes. And it's SO easy to mess up the de Cliffords, who had many cousins with the same names at the same times. For about 200 years.

This taught me that going down to the lower levels first can be very useful -- I'd started a couple of generations up and couldn't figure it out. Glad this worked!

re: untangling 'bad merges' ... many times the problem starts "lower" in a tree where details may be sparse, and one doesn't realize the grandparents are different even though the parents (at least one) have the same name (and no dates to help!)
